i mean - now that mp3's of warp are official, they can't
find out where you have them from right ?

now i can tell everybody, that i haven't downloaded my files
from slsk, but bought them on bleep...

kinda stupid don't you think ?

No, not stupid, "trusting". Warp never would prosecute
people for having a few mp3s of their tracks. Smaller labels
rely on goodwill of the fanbase (I know warp are a big indie
label, but they're still small in the grand scheme of
things) if they started sueing people left right and centre
a la the RIAA, pretty soon there'd be no one left to buy
their records.

I think it's very decent of them- the fact that they treat
you with that level of trust and respect makes you less
inclined to try to screw them over.

Agreed. Can you imagine that Warp would put any energy into
hunting down people with illegal mp3's? Never.

anyway, RIAA is only prosecuting for sharing not for
possesion. at least that was my understanding.

kudos2warp4bleep

it's nice to see a record label embracing change instead of
resisting it with everything they can.

Which big record companies have their entire back catalogue
downloadable as mp3 at a fraction of the price?

ok, not entire catalogue but are selling mp3's...but it's
the same thing regarding the initial question.

if you mean sharing mp3's that you just paid 1.35 for, thats
STooPID! for some reason i find it worse to pay for mp3's,
thn share them with a million people that didnt pay, then
torip some tracks of a cd and share.

i dont know why i look at it like that. maybe cause i feel
like with bleep, its like HEY FUCKER, GO spend a dollar and
get it yourself. you dont actually have to leave your house,
and spend the 15 bucks for that perticular record. thats the
main thing for most people that D/L i think. conveience.
But when someone can go an pay a buck or two and D/L an mp3
just ike i did! i aint sharing that shit!

good one ceri - but that's still a bit weird for me. i mean,
when someone got internet, then i supose he'll donwload it
for free. if he don't he will buy the cd.

another thing - when someone has the money to pay for the
mp3's, i think he'll rather go to the shop and buy the
original one with cover, artwork etc. my understanding.

there's a quote from warp, something along the lines of "we
don't treat our customers like criminals"

well, ive bought mp3's of bleep. i D/L off SLSK and i spend
at least 100 dollars a week at the record store. so long as
i get my music, i'll take it however i can get it.
preferably "real" though.

If I want to buy whole releases it's cheaper to do so from
Bleep and I don't really care about the artwork.

Yes, to be honest most of my CDs are only listened to as
MP3s anyway. I only buy stuff to DJ with on vinyl really.

you can get free music by drinking Pepsi!

all your teeth will turn to sponges to the sounds of Shenaya

i suppose its a good idea, but personally i would never buy
an mp3, cause basically it seems like you are paying money
for nothing. i don't even download mp3s off slsk or
anything very often (and if i do its usually hard-to-find
stuff, or previewing an artist before i buy a cd), but
paying for a digital file without getting a "hard copy"
seems like throwing your money away to me. this also
applies to software companies that sell programs online i
guess. maybe it has to do with buying something that you
could give away for free without any loss at all.. also i
would rather get the cd with case and artwork for about the
same price (which could be copied to a computer at
"full-quality" rather than an mp3)

evolume is correct. There is nothing illegal about having
mp3s on your HD... the problem is sharing them.

Besides. You know that if you go to bleep you will find what
you're looking for.

I've searched for things on slsk i can't find alot of the
time... or shit quality.

It's nice that it gives people a choiceto do what they want.
Choice is always good imo
