I just got Quake too, since I was having so much playing doom, and one thing led to another... blah blah blah..
so here's my problem, it says that resolution can only be changed from the command line, using -width and -bpp, does anyone know exactly how to do this so that say, resolution is 1024x768x32?

Are you talking about the original quake?
I have Quake III Arena which is even better than doom!

yes, I am talkin about quake 1. Quake III kicked ass with all the mods and stuff, and the advances it made for FPS gaming with the Quake III engine is invaluable.
