Neither situation would have been nice to be in. But I guess I would rather disintigrate instantly than be in a very tall building, knowing it was about to collapse.
As far as fatality numbers go, neither of them are pleasant.

9/11 is cat wee.
it was just over-spoken of, over-mediatized etc., just because it happened in the usa, for the "symbolic" value and all. i hope everyone realizes that.
much worse has happened since then in other parts of the world, a LOT more deaths, a LOT more loss in patrimony, i hope it's obvious enough...
comparing 9/11 to Hiroshima is just as scandalous as comparing beeing stung by a bee, to having been shot and having lost a leg in the war.

There's a big difference. One occured in an official state of war between two countries. Besides, without Hiroshima, we'd never of had Godzilla, or Mothra for that matter...

some facts:
it was a democratic government that attacked civilian Japanese cities
democratic governments are servants of the people. The american people attacked japanese civilians.
(what about peal harbour/pacific/china, i hear you ask?)
the japanese government was autocratic and military, not democratic. the people didn't have a say outside of state controlled propaganda. Why did they suffer for their undemocratic governments actions, just because they were isolated and ignorant?
Iraq/Afghanistan/N.Korea: same.
Stop making the people suffer! Where is the UN?
9/11 ... slightly different i think. hence this new age of terrorism. No longer government controlled.... dealing with individual groups rather than states/governments.
Solution: balance of freedom and control. tough to do

9/11 = fuckall compared to Hiroshima; and yes, I do compare them because they were both tragedies, no matter what the context.
I wonder what reactions and media hype a similar attack to a building in Kuala Lumpur would cause. A yawn perhaps..

The media in Kuala Lumpur would talk about it a lot. The media in the US talk about 9/11 because it happened in the US. Blame your country for beaming in our news programs. It's not like we are getting shitloads of sympathy from everyone either. Obviously. You should read up on the history of WW2, 2. Untimely death sucks, Yes...If that's your point I agree with you. If your point is who's the bigger murderer than you are being an asshole.

both are horrendous tragedies and its unfortunate that we needed to drop an atomic bomb to stop the deaths of american lives (soldiers) but the fact of the matter is if we wouldn't have dropped the a-bomb on japan they would've eventually done it to us. 9-11 is the underlying evil of religion and self righteousness- its pretty simple we either exterminate the muslim extremists or we will be destroyed by them.

if we in our fortunate countries had the tables turned, and were threatened by a superpower n times our scale on a daily basis, im supposing that suicide attacks would not be out of the question. it appears to me to be done out of desparation. also, if i was impoverished the sight of my extravagant lifestyle would make me very sad and angry

“Seventy percent of the Dresden dead either suffocated or died from poison gases that turned their bodies green and red. The intense heat melted some bodies into the pavement like bubblegum, or shrunk them into three-foot long charred carcasses. Clean-up crews wore rubber boots to wade through the ‘human soup’ found in nearby caves. In other cases, the superheated air propelled victims skyward only to come down in tiny pieces as far as fifteen miles outside Dresden.”

you people forgot the constant US bombing iraq in the 90s, killing more than 500 000 women and children (source: bowling for columbine). i think it's a clear winner. but of course, the media controlled that information, so that everybody would ignore this.
and whoever said that dying in hiroshima was a quick death, many thousands died of complications of radiation many years after the actual bombing, living with their mutaded bodies and suffering.
