Have you tried scanning with Spybot?

Hey, aren't you the guy with like a terabyte of icons and
files and shit on the desktop? Sometimes that is not good
and slows things down and fucks everything up.

yes, it's a mess here, im that one...

i tried spybot and it fixes most of it but there are still
some unfixed files remaining - and i get this notice that i
have to restart computer and run spybot again, and well,
still can't fix those...im going to keep it cleaner when i
format it next time...but i don't feel like doing that just
yet :(

Honestly, you wouldn't find yourself in this mess if you
stopped using IE and stopped installing crapware that comes
with adware and trojans.

Mainly though, stop using IE! Thunderbird and Mozilla are
simply better.

Let me give you an example: I cleared a client's computer of
adware, and two days later it was back, because she had no
idea simply visiting some websites would install shit behind
her back. That's what happens when you use IE!

spybot and adaware dont always do good. sometimes they
remove files they think are harmful, but really arent. that
right there could be your problem.

Horseshit. Sometimes by removing adware, the shit sofware
the adware rode in on will stop working. But I've never
known them to remove Windows system files.

oh yeah buddy. adaware is an evil bastard. spybot is ok. but
adaware removes .dll files when it aint supposed to.

If you need any help configuring plugins and stuff check
this out, or ask here... plenty of Mozilla users
at Xltronic.

Really? I'm surprised... then again I mostly use Spybot.
What files did it remove?

it was for this VPN dialer program i have to use at work. i
couldnt even uninstall it properly. massive headache. i'm
not the only one its happened to though. personally though,
i think spybot AND adaware are adware themselves.

Yeah, that's because they aren't Microsoft so they don't
have the privilege of loading most of the browser components
when Windows loads...

Try hitting ctrl-T :D

If your mouse has a middle button (or a wheel) you can set
it to open a link in a new tab.

When your first ad-popup comes along you will be given the
choice to block popups forever. Or you can go into edit ->
preferences and set it yourself.

You'll probably want to install at least Sun's Java plugin,
and also Flash...

Just get a Sega Dreamcast and browse the 'net with that.
You'll never have to deal with spyware or temporary files or
popups or anything.

thanks a lot!
i'll definitely try those and get to know this better
tomorrow, it's getting kind of late 2.30 am...

anyway, it would be nice to see in the morning when i wake
up that it haven't crashed, tho that might have nothing to
do with explorer...

Click no, but first there should be a checkbox you can tick
or untick to make it stop bugging you.

control panel, internet options, programs - there's a
tickbox you can toggle there to make it stop checking.
