DJ Shadow is a fucking amazing dude.

However, can someone please tell me what being a DJ consists
of? I mean I know they stick on a record then they mix into
another one...but is that it?

Please forgive I have never used decks before. I have no
idea of the complexities envolved etc etc etc.

Ceri JC from My house in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2001-12-15 00:38 [#00061004]

You generally also have to synch the beats so there is a
smooth transition as well as choose records that mix into
each other as well. In addition to this you have to choose
records according to the crowd is behaving (if people look
fuct and are leavig the dancefloor put something slower on).
I used to think it was a piece of piss, having tried it I'll
say it's not as easy as it looks and is undoubtedly a
skilled job. That said, I don't think it's as difficult as
writing/producing your own music.

Ah... i like this question, cause i can answer it so
simply:

NONE!!!

being a dj is overrated if you ask me. they get way to much
attention. any dickhead can play music. They got computers
to work out the bpm and pitch, so they are talentless geeks,
and nothing more. :) (well, at least compared to the
artists)

hope this answers you´r question.

/-T|K|R-\ from the start on 2001-12-15 15:29 [#00061211]

well if anyone can do it then do it,

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-15 16:14 [#00061216]

Hmmm... i actually did once you know :)

i realise this messages message came out distorted. I mean
that DJ´s are like popstars today. And i know theres a good
few out there also, who might have more talent than some
dance acts. i just think that dj´s are to overrated
compared to artitists. i´m not saying i hate them (maybe i
do a little, but i´m not saying it) :0
