i read that sigur ros left fat cat records and signed a
contract with EMI Europe. Their new album will be released
in spring 2005 and they have already composed some tracks
which are not in their final versions...

what i said is an translation of the weekly news of the
german independent magazine intro

hmmm, i think they will make more monotonious music. many
bands change to majors, which were good, and then in order
to keep their contact they let some influence of the major
flow in their music, which has as an result that they start
to suck. i don't know how far sigur ros will be influenced
by the major, but i think their music will change to a more
mainstream sound... :(

it can happen.
but wait + see.. they might remain autonomous as far as
their music's concerned. some bands manage to.

it's kind of weird... you'd think major labels with all
their money and power would be more open to artistic
freedom, cause they can afford to have albums not do that
well... shrug...

i have a feeling, with all the emotion and beauty in their
music, that they'd be the kind of band that would stick to
their sound. and probably be allowed to stick to their own
original sound on the major label too.

fat cat's email newsletter said they were happy with emi,
and i imagine that means that the band knows they won't be
too pressured by the label as far as creativity and such.
just my opinion tho, i guess we'll haev to wait and see
