I've kinda got a little streak in me, i think... when i was younger i couldn't step on anything but the flower-patterns on our carpet, it'd get a bit edgy if i didn't. Videos always have to be lined up and neat, and it really pleases me for some reason when i crush out a cigarette and it goes straight down in on itself and doesn't bend. And also, i've kept a record for nearly 3 years of every text message between myself and someone i know.
Just how odd is this? Any of you do anything similar?

Yeah i had an book called "obsessive-compulsive disorders: a practical guide" or something, and some of the case studies in there were really scary. There's a form called obsessive-slowness disorder where it can take like 3 hours to tie laces or get out of bed in the right way or whatever... it must totally consume people's lives.

dude. i have a little bit of that in me sometimes, not all the time though.
I would have to check my pockets all the fucking time to see if i had what I came to that place with, over and over and over...
as well if I would have turned the stove off or not, id check so many times sometimes, even...... once or twice i drove back to my house from leaving it 10 mins before, thinking..... that i didnt turn it off.

im like that too.
not sure how close it is to real obsessive compulsive as there are a few cases on the side of the family that married into my bloodline. its a proper mental illness + makes life really hard.

Don't be so quick to label yourselves with this. The things you have described all seem quite minor and almost everyone does them or similar. I mean, it's common to hear of people going back to their house to check something they think they have forgotten or whatever, but realise that they are just being silly. It's natural.

Yeah, i know my stuff is really minor, i don't think it's close to real OCD behaviour, but it does make life annoying and it's hard to stop cause it makes me feel really edgy.

i dont know if this is obsessive compulsive but i cannot go under tv sets which are hung from the celings. y'know like the ones in dept stores or schools. i'm so afraid it'll just come crashing down on me the moment i pass right under it. i dont find this to be OCD just a defensive mechanism my body has.

Nope, i also had it as a kid, but it sort of faded. I still keep some things neat, but back in the days i sometimes felt i had to open and close a door 3 times and stuff like that.

That's a phobia not OCD.
There's a guy who works here who washes his hands obessively. I get tempted every now and then to rub my hands in his face to watch him freak out.

i have a wierd thing where i have to lock my doors in a specific way before i go to sleep. i open the door, look outside, then close it and lock it twice on the top and bottom. i do it with my lamp too, i turn it off and on 3 times before turning it off.....and i always have to seperate my m&ms or other candy when i eat them into color quantities and then eat them to keep them in even numbers.
