Who here has worked this job before? Selling goods and
services, and pretty much annoying some people at homes? Im
seriously thinking about joining their ranks, because im in
2 bands and music is important to me, im very busy with it
and need a job that has flexible hours with decent pay,
which telemarketing has both.

Just wondering if anyones got any stories, advice or
knowledge I should read before doing this? Ill probably end
up doing it anyway, but Id just like to know regardless.

I was a market research telemarketer; so the same thing
except I didn't have to sell anything, just do surveys.

seems like it'd be a sucky job, cause, everybody would hate
you.

It was the shortest job i have ever had. It lasted 32
minutes. I got tired with it after 5 minutes and kept prank
calling the same guy over and over again. All i had to do
was hit F5 and it was a redail button. He was the first guy
to complain and curse at me so i pestered him for the next
27 minutes until he gave up and i walked out of the job.

That doesn't really phase you after a while since people
aren't really people anymore. You just like automatically
deal with them and you've heard it all before so it's no big
deal.
The worst thing is stupid people. Or old people. Goddamn.

so what... I dunno.. im not really worried about people
hating me for 2 main reasons. 1- i dont care what people
think. and 2- they have no idea who iam or what i look
like.

I just wonder if its worth it? because its so hard to find a
job with flexible hours, and I NEED a job with flexible
hours, as my band goes out of town quite often and I cant
say NO to that.

It sucks a lot. I went for about a year before getting
fired.

yeah but.... if that sucks too much can you reccomend a job
that doesnt such as much that lets me work about 32 hours a
week? I cant do full time with being in 2 bands, its just
not possible, and until I go back till school after this
summer, a job isnt very important, so something part time is
what i need.

yeah, it wouldn't hurt my feelings either. but, it seems
like it'd get real old real quick having people hang up on
you, and tell you you suck.

especially since you'd kinda have to agree with them, since
what you're doing does totally suck.

yeah it could be fun. I dunno..... the getting told off part
doesnt bother me all too much, and yeah it would be true,
cause they do suck oh well. I got a interview on monday with
a sign installing place, for 13.50 an hour to start, so ill
see what happens after that.

but I know some people who work in those types of jobs, and
they get paid well... so, if it pays well, take it, and get
a few checks out of it if nothing else!

yeah.... im real good at getting a job, hating it for 2
weeks, getting paid nicely, then quitting to only get a
better job... hopefully something good comes of it all.

Hahaha, Well go for it.
You seem like you could handle yourself from some of the
abuse they get!

I feel sorry for telemarketers sometimes!

this is the most soul destroying job you will ever find. i
did it for 2 weeks, it is really horrific. why on earth do
you want to do it?

by all means try it, but dont let yourself even think about
enjoying it. its shit.

I doubt id ever enjoy it, people sayin stuff to me does not
bother me in the least, if anything i just find it funny. i
dunno...... it may happen, but it seems now that ill have
this other better job.
