is it cold where you are? i'm sure there are some in
canada who will not sympathize, but here right now it's
-13F, -25 celsius, and the low tonight is supposed to be
around -20F, which is nearly -30 celsius. with the wind
chill you're looking at about -40, -50F.

hope yer keepin' warm...

you should invite junktion down for summer.

in the summer here the temperature peaks at about 38 or 39
degrees centigrade. it's the absolute dead of winter right
now.

actually, -40 celsius is -40F. yeah, i know it's been bad
in canada since that's where all our cold air is coming
from!

it really is brutal, if the wind is blowing you can't stand
being outside for more than a few minutes.

-32c. .. with windchill yesterday it was almost -50c.

Yeah it's the wind that really kills you. The cold isn't so
bad if it's not windy at all. Anyway, here it's like 1F and
like -13F with windchill I believe.

holy shit!

and "i'm hoping it will get up to 10-15ºF satyrday so i can
get my car to start... "

made me laugh for hours.

--------
it is 47 degrees F tonight, with a nice breeze, very
agreeable, I was about without a sweatshirt on, and it felt
good.

it's about -20 F, -40 wind-chill right now in my part of
mn.
it's terrible.. i can't even imagine it being colder..

i think if lived in canada i would be hibernating right now.

is life different when it's that cold out?

I've only been in like, 9F, and that was wicked fucking
cold, it was unreal.

and -20F is almost 30 degrees colder than that, the
difference is like from 60F to 90F!!! that is incredible!

does the world stop, or do people keep on keeping on?

and it was so fucking cold, even inside, that i broke a
string and the water pipes above me had little bits of ice
on them... fucking twisted dude, it should never ever get
this cold, ever!

the mall actually heats on body heat, like many other places
in minneapolis. if you go to the mall right when it opens
in the morning, it can be very cold.

urban sprawl...

mappatazee: yeah like deadeight said, its really about
850'000 people here..... it sure feels like it. our city
will reach 1 million in the next 3 years. or so they say. I
could totally believe that.

deadeight: the mall here is sad, I fucking hate it with such
a passion, the people who hang out there all the time are
scum. fuckin scum.

rarndaraki, i'm disappointed that i missed your show. let
me know next time when you're playing. i have a friend who
dj's occasionally at the dinkytowner (not for at least 6
months, though, i think, i've never been to hear him spin).
i live over in lowry by the walker art center. i checked
out some of the mp3's you posted at zebox and i'd definitely
like to attend a live performance.

to answer the question about what life is like in this
outrageously cold place, there are fewer people out but you
will still see people wrapped up like mummies riding
bicycles and walking to wherever. still, i saw a segment on
a local news show the other day about the spike in frostbite
cases at local hospitals. i'd seen what frostbite looks
like after the tissue turns black, but before that happens
the tissue (in your fingers, for example) puffs up like
snakebites in huge, bulbous blisters. you really can't
spend much time outside at all.

when it's windy and it hits any part of your body that's
exposed you can feel the life being sucked out of you and
the nerves in your skin ache sharply until you get to
shelter. i like variety in weather, but this is too extreme
for me.

yeah, Alberta gets pretty cold... I guess Saskatchawan and
such too, but my brother used to live in Edmonton, and he
used to always complain about how cold it was... but you
don't get too much snow do you? Here in Newfoundland our
temperatures are usually reasonible, but we get shit loads
of snow...

funkmaster: .. well its 50/50, some years we get so much
snow it hurts, while others (like this year) this is not
much snow, just a frozen wasteland of hell.
