Not bad...I thought the panning thing got a bit boring
within the minute, I like the beat at 1:00 and the flutes
and stuff sound well good...sounds quite jazzy and freeform
then. I'm not sure that I like the sounds you have used in
parts...they sound a bit too generic and dull. While the
beats are good I would have liked a little more variation in
parts...it's a decent track though :P

A nice playful track. The folksy trills (1.12 onwards) make
me think of Bulgarian music for some reason.

tHanks Ceri - yep, it is a playful piece - and I barely ever
make playful pieces, so it was a good change :D Even if it
IS in G-minor! :D

Well, here it is, my contractually stipulated monthly
review. Goddamn, if this guy's dick wasn't so fucking big I
swear I'd never put up with this shit.

The beginning is probably the biggest surprise for me. While
the melody is a deadringer for Plaid's 'After Dinner' remix,
it has enough personality to merit listening and it's
clearly the most commercial movement yet for an obviously
stubborn artist. Beat evolution is simplistic and
uncluttered. Gives way to an Aphex like breakdown which is
shattered by firstly some tweeting birds and then an
orchestral backup, a really interesting mix which leads
nicely into a more typical IDM buildup. I'm reminded of
certain heavy rock bands along with Windowlicker-era RDJ,
before the synths take centre stage again to remind you -
this - is - the - p - f - s.

As a whole, while it's a more generic track from you Paul -
which I believe I said about your last track - it's one I'm
more inclined to stick in my playlist, and after some of the
nightmarish atrocities you've called music in the past, that
can only be a good thing :)

You know, as much as I hate to admit it, I sense Paul may
finally be finding a niche. Through trial and error you can
actually hear the tracks getting more realised and well
produced (I don't know if you've changed programs, and don't
involve myself in those matters). Overall, another thumbs
up, and I'll try it out on pOgO without telling who it is :)

Damn, that might be my new favourite Paul F. Savage track.
It's stupidly catchy. The beginning reminded me of your
older songs, like Silent Wishes, if I remember
correctly.. Maybe the ending is a bit too long, but the rest
is really great. Rule.

hey thanks fab :) I totally missed this last review. I agree
about it sounded like one of my older songs too :D The
ending is deliberately long, so-as to become mantric, before
the final plunge with the passing train :) Thank you for
listening!

this track still blows my mind nearly every time i listen to
it.

a true gem in the big heap of xltunes i have gathered over
the years.

there is something very aphex-ian about the way this track
degrades into a sort of rotten melancholic mood, after
having had just a taste of sublimely orchestrated melodies
that leave you wanting more.

MORE. please.
