Thats right. I was at my nephews at the weekend (age 6). I had to deliver a present a relative couldn't get to him over xmas and so handed him a very typical, nicely wrapped, if belated, box type-thing.
He opened it and to my joy i found it was a little Lego toy - a vehicle of some sort. My nephew, appreciating the creative possibilities of those little lumpy plastic bricks, immediately tore open the cellophane and emptied the contents onto a smooth work area, ready for assemblage according to the instructions - and at a later date, deseemblage, according to that primeval force in all of us - in the time-honoured fashion.
I generally left it to the little tyke to be totally immersed in his cognitive excercise, only offering nuggets of advice as required: "Thats for the wheel", "You shouldn't have to force the pieces together" and "i suppose his balls ARE plastic too.."
As i casually glanced down at the box to check out how the final product was supposed to look - minus the mock-landscape on the cover - which was never included in the contents - i noticed that the box had no title, mearly a serial number of some sort - AS293 or something. The vehicle this represented, on closer inspection, turns out to be a lorry, with a normal enough looking front cab, pulling a trailer of what can be nothing less than a consignment of Weapons of mass destruction! There are a few grey conical war-heads and some drums! What else could they be? The mock landscape was desert coloured and the colour of the truck was Hazmat yellow!
I can only conclude that this was a n attempt by lego to say "look... WMD's are an everyday occurence"... just like their damned pirate-ships! Lego: i hurt my toes on your carelessly thrown bricks and am also hurt by your attempt at child-mind-corruption. In league with Bush you are! anyone else out there find dodgy right-wing lego items? KKK sets? There-are-no-fumes-from-our-factories kits?
