Why did Autechre supposedly say that this wasn't a worthy follow-up to Tri Repetae? I think it's one of their most consistent and enjoyable records they've put out. It's like Draft, but more accessible. |

They didn't say it was unworthy they just said it wasn't a proper follow up. It was a detour. I don't think it is similar to draft. |

Hmmm I think Draft and Chiastic Slide both have a pretty industrial (not music-wise) feel to it. They both conjure up images of big dark buildings and huge machinery. Whereas, LP5 was a pretty record filled with lots of nice melodies, and Confield was... all over the place. |

well my friend FOR ME: chiastic slide conjures images of a massive snowy plain which is underpinned by a load of machines which occasionally break through the snow. they create a lot of warmth under the snow. draft 7.30 is very liquidy. it all flows really nicely, and reminds me of mercury. IV VI IV VI VII reminds me of a sea storm or something like that. the artwork kind of represents what i mean, the way it all flows in and out of itself. And now, A CARTWHEEL |

i think chiastic slide has always been a purely mechanical album for me. lp5 sounds like computers. and ep7 sounds like insects. confield sounds like a mayan temple in the jungle. draft 7.30 sounds like autechre making music. |

There are some tracks (like "Tewe" or "Pule") that sound like they are produced by metallic rods of various sizes so i guess the first comment was directed there. But I agree it's their machine album. |

It's my fave record of theirs behind Incunabula. I think they said it wasn't a proper follow-up in their evolution of sound because it basically just builds off the concepts off Tri-Repetae whereas LP5 is more of a leap. |
