oh men! I never realized this could be so good. 2004 it is,
and i've just bought a copy of Bytes. Comparing it with
Spanners and Temple of Transparant Balls, really put this
baby high on top. At the first listen the tracks sounded
great, catchy, not-at-all-dated, like track 3,6,4,2,8,1,9,
MEN they're all GREAT!

Haha, and I thought I'd be the one to introduce the album
for discussion. :] Everyone pretty much knows my stance on
this album, so I won't go into repeating myself. But let it
be known, Ed Handley's alias 'Balil' is some of the best
damn music to ever come out of the early 90's.

Merck and 3/4 Heart alone are somewhere in my
10 favorite songs of all time.

black dog are far superior to plaid. spanners, bytes and
totb are fantastic. steer clear of the rest.

if i had to choose a desert island disc, this would be it by
a long way.

i only know peel session 1995 from black dog but i guess
i'll have 2 try this 1 ; steve beckett & rob mitchell from
warp said it was among their best records (along music has
the right..., Frequencies & SAW2) from the warp catalogue

All black dog releases are totally classic and essential!!
Definately the best period for Ed and Andy before they go
further as plaid

One of my first Warp CDs, if not the first. This one is
great along with Spanners. The tracks by Close Up Over and
Balil are my faves. The track listing can be a bit confusing
with all the 'Phils' in there.
