Any decent, free, non spyware utils you folks recommend for
copying (preferably individual) tracks from CD to HD as
44khz wavs?

Ta.

db poweramp is actually a music converter for mp3 to wav
and what not, but it comes with a nice little prog. called
Audio CD Input or something, rips them quite nicely. it
might do it to just mp3, tho :-\

EAC would be the obvious choice.
I also like Audiograbber, which will become freeware next
month

Yeah, dp poweramp is intuitive and does the job. I'd go with
that one.

The main thing in EAC's favour is that it guarantees
error-free rips. Plus, of course, it's free.

Thanks for the advise guys, I've gone with CDex because:

a) I'd installed it by the time the other replies were
here.
b) A really early version of it was my first ever mp3
ripper way back when.

Xceque, is that Vickie the Viking? Why did her dad always
refer to her as "son"?

You NEED Simple MP3 Maker. Don't be fooled by the name cos
it's great. Get yer arse on MSN and I'll sort you out if you
want :)

RAZORLAME is great - so is Exact Audio Copy using the Lame
encoder/decoder.

Is Exact Audio Copy a program that extracts wav data from
audio cd, checks it for consistancy and then LAME encodes it
to MP3 if required?
