I want to replace the one that came with my deck. What do
I need to know? Is there a certain type and how would I find
out?

hopefully you dont have the piece of shit sony-for-the-moms
turntable i used to have. i busted the needle and had to
order one from sony for $60....and considering the quality,
it was quite a rip off.

Okay, I'm pretty set on getting this
Any feedback?
I am using a semi-auto, belt-drive technics sl-bd22 deck,
just for regular listening, no scratching or mixing whatever
you call it.

if you're only listening, you should get one with a diamond
on the tip. we've got one of those for our old player... the
sound is still great after 10-15 years!

nah. dj pickups are all soft and bendy and stuff.. normal
pickups are some metal stuff, and the hifi pickups have a
small diamond on the tip.

three stand-alone engines driving the 8cm plate, and the
rubber-band only touches the plate at three locations!

Yeah, I think I'll get this cartridge, I've read good
reviews so far

When the cart came in the mail, I was impressed by the
way it looked -- the cantilever is much finer and delicate
than I expected in an $89.95 cartridge, and upon looking at
the tip through my stylus scope, I was amazed at its
appearance -- it's a nude-mounted diamond with a fine-line
profile (Audio-Technica's Microline). The entire tip is a
solid diamond, and has a bluish glow when looking directly
at the tip -- something I'd never seen before. The cartridge
looks "expensive," except for the purplish color of the body
(which isn't garish, but doesn't contribute anything to its
looks in my mind).

Yeah, it's purple. Ah well.

I just put in some headphones and have come to the
conclusion that the anti-skate must be way off; the right
channel is way loud. How is this usually adjusted?

do you put the signal through a pre-amp or mixer or
anything?

offline mappatazee from ¨y¨z¨| (Burkina Faso) on 2004-01-26 04:39 [#01049032]
Points: 14294 Status: Lurker

yeah, but I think it might be related to why it skips so
easily. also the cartridge seems to wobble easily

hmm.. it may also be that the pre-amp is unbalanced or that
the pan-controls on the mixer is off. it may even be
internal on your amp. the headphone-pan may be different
from the normal pan, and you may have to adjust it
internally in some menu.
