Lately I discovered this amazing label, but I can't believe
why they limit most of their releases to 1000 copies, any
ideas?

The new Proem also will be on Merck records and is going to
be released on the 30th of January

And why isnt this label in the Xlt discography?

i think it's pretty new label, and many other labels seem to
be missing in discography...but surely that will change.

i got two merck samplers few weeks ago and i like them a
lot, nice stuff, i haven't had the time to check them
properly but i plan on doing that some time soon.

Merck is awesome. Pick up "Showcase" by Lackluster and "Now
You Know" by Machine Drum if you haven't sampled the label
yet. Awesome albums.

They can only afford to release 1000 copies.

Great label. I picked up Secede's Bye Bye Gridlock Traffic
from Warpmart recently.. AMAZING release.

i just heard tiki obmar (on merck) for the first time, a mix
of live guitar, bass & drums in various quantities with
electronics.

check three of their tracks at
tiki obmar

also just got adam johnson's album "chigliak," which is a
mix of old school artificial intelligence style techno, a
strong black dog influence, and even flavors from minimal
techno berlinstyle. very good but not great.

check the two recent mix cd's, available for cheap, 2003 mix
one spring, and 2003 mix two fall. tasteful mix, great
tracks and a nice introduction to the label.

merck is a good label but the limited editions give you an
idea of how much independent electronic music sells: not a
lot.

yeah, i heard good things about lackluster, and last year i
bought "my mines" of morris nightingale and ???? I don't
know, anyway Morris Nightingale is nickname of Jimmy Edgar.
Great detroit detroit techno - prefuse 73 hip hop mixture!

yeh that album is wicked,,,,,,but the best has to be

remixes.

why are they limited to 1000? because some of the records
released 2 or 3 years ago still havent sold out. why?
because people dont buy records. its a big risk to make a
run of 2000, they might never sell out. so, thank mp3groups,
soulseek and no support for the community. also, the
fact is that there are literally hundreds of labels that
nobody wants to listen to, or, more to the point, buy.

perhaps the music just isnt good enough.

the distribution of merck records has improved a great deal,
but it doesnt matter how many stores they're available at
if no-one gives a shit.

in the meanwhile, listen to merck radio.

I reckon they don't sell many because they're not good
enough. I've seen some of the acts on Merck and they're not
great live either.
