Hi folks, my scout troop are doing Russian cooking as a
"cultural" activity next week and are having difficulty
finding any recipies.

Can anyone give me any recipies or links to them, preferably
in English with the sort of ingrediants I'd be able to get
in normal food stores- no top grade caviar or exotic herbs,
cheers :)

(Yes yes, I fully expect nothing but posts about "he who
cannot be named" :P)

Russian food is the shit. Those guys know just what to eat
so that you can really put away the vodka without getting
sick. And they're always taking shots during dinner. I
almost wish I was Russian just for the good food and drink.

I love vodka.

Alfred, yes the Poles cane shots during meals too. You don't
really notice till you go to stand up when you're getting
down from the table :)

Exxallion: Yep, he has been B7ed and the post deleted.
Posting it at all is stupid. Posting it in response to a mod
staggers belief.

Hyakusen: Well, my polish mate's family all did and they
assured us it was normal. Perhaps they're just alcoholics
trying to justify it? ;)

Cheers to Nacmat and Anus. Any russians care to recommend a
particular recipe from those at the sites they linked to as
a "traditional russian dish"? Thank you.

They made Blini, some pancakes type things (just like uk
pancakes), a sort of mulled wine/punch hybrid drink and also
some rather bread like donuts. All in all, it was a success.
Thanks for the links folks.

me that all Russians are evil terrorists and must be killed.

I was a little bastard as a scout too. That's why I'm never
too harsh on the kids, it'd be hypocritical of me to be.

I never made it to the scouts I was kicked out at about 10
years old...probably why I turned into a tennage deliquent.
:P
