don't know who knows this song, or who cares really, but it's that song where U2 and Pavarotti do a little duet... but damn, I think it's gorgeous... never been an opera fan, but Pavarotti's voice just lifts this song so incredibly when he comes in... amazing stuff!

Did this come after Pop? After that album - which I think is severely underrated - I lost all interest in the group completely, for some reason. I've only ever heard like 5 seconds of this track. Pavarotti, when he came to fore for Italia '90 I was well impressed and he really brought Opera to the uncouth masses but these days he's just a fat old pervert with weak ankles and a 19 year old wife innie?

this is from that Passengers release... it's technically not considered a U2 release, cause Brian Eno is really a member of the band for this one... it came out just after Zooropa I believe, so that's before Pop...

well yeah, after Pop they have gone down hill quite a bit... it's like, Pop wasn't well received so lets do what is well received... and they try and capture something like the joshua tree again, but All That You Can't Leave Behind just sounded crap to me... Pop is a great album in my opinion...

Yeah, I skipped Passengers because by then I'd become disillusioned with buying any piece of crap that a band I'd followed would release, also I was heavily into drugs and my tastes had somewhat altered. Anything remotely cringeworthy which I had managed to stomach was out the window.
I can't help humming along every time I hear Beautiful Day but that's probably because it's the theme tune to the main football programme on UK TV. Their last album is the only true U2 release I haven't bought or even heard. I think it's embaressing to watch a band try to recapture past glories when they have no chance of doing it. That applies to many groups, across many decades...
bah. I'm drunk.

i'm definitely not a fan of u2, but this is one of the best songs i've ever heard, especially when pavarotti starts to sing. I remember seeing the video on tv.

great track! I also really like the "Hands that built america"-track... U2 is good. I enjoy listening to a lot of their work, their old and their new.
I agree on POP being a great album to.
