My band is looking into getting a web presence, but we're not exactly sure what we need and where we need whatever it is that we need from...
Our site should be relatively simple--general info pages plus, hopefully, enough storage for some mp3s and a couple of videos, maybe. We'll also have a forum, but that might be with ezboard or something, and therefore not hosted on our space.
So, with that in mind, we're hoping to get some recommendations for web hosting services. We're on a budget, so we don't want to pay a lot, so what provider gives us fast, reliable service at a relatively low cost? Also, should we reserve our domain name through the service from which we're getting our hosting?
Any help would be appreciated.

mashnote.net is hosted on 34sp.com pretty cheap and good service. reason why i'm changing hosts is because i could get a good deal (x-mas promo package) somewhere else.
if you don't have a domain name yet, i suggest you order it at the same place where you're getting hosting. so you don't have to worry about anything (nameservers etc..).

phpwebhosing.com is a really good deal. i've heard nothing but wonderful feedback on them. plenty of space (225MB) and more if you ask nicely, and since they offer PHP, you could install your own free php driven messageboard if you wanted.

nameservers are easy to use though.
as for the best host, our site is hosted on elucidsystems.com. 5 gigs of space, 15+ gigs of bandwidth, all the good net languages (sql & php, ideal for hosting forums). i pay $96 a year, but the owner said we get the 'totally awesome discount' because he likes the music on the site.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll talk it over with the other band members and decide what we're gonna do.
hyakusen: What do you mean? Would you design a site for us or what? We were going to do the design ourselves (don't need anything amazing and don't want to spend tons of cash) but we're open to suggestions. So what does what you're offering entail?

Just go for it - either of the suggested hosting companies are great, but I think my suggestion gives you more space, bandwidth and unlimited options, and it has a great online support community.
