blowing money

boxrocket on 2001-12-06 01:54 [#00058474]

i've spent somewhere around four hundred dollars over the
past week just partying my ass off with some friends, and i
did it all on a fucking credit card, man. to some that may
not sound like much, but i don't have much money, i'm
sleeping on a couch because i can't afford a bed yet, and my
clothes are on the floor because i can't afford a dresser of
any kind. i had to pay rent yesterday partly with some
change i had in a jar somewhere, and here i've gone and used
this credit card to rack up frightening debt. i hate this, i
can't believe i've been so goddamn fucking stupid, man. this
sucks more than i can say, and i don't know how i'm going to
pay this shit off without going deeper into debt. sorry, i
just need to get this shit off my chest.

here's an idea... get rid of your internet connection, and
sell your computer...

Baron Von Picklefoot from From my "special" place on 2001-12-06 02:03 [#00058477]

I'll buy your soul from you for 500.00 bucks !!!THE BARON
HAS SPOKEN!!!!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-06 02:19 [#00058478]

Stop partying, shit. What is WITH you immature party
animals? I don't who or where you are, but you're gonna have
to wise up and stop doing stupid shit, or you're asking for
it.

SiNai on 2001-12-06 04:15 [#00058487]

Awww give the guy a break, ya gotta let loose sometimes..

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-06 04:38 [#00058491]

Not at your livelihood's expense. Have some common sense,
you won't be partying when you're so deep in debt that you
get eaten by a group of small ducklings.

boxrocket on 2001-12-06 04:42 [#00058493]

maybe "partying" was the wrong word to use. it wasn't
neccessarily spent on getting wild; most of it was spent on
a woman that's got me knocked to my feet. i don't suppose
that's any better a reason though...(heh, heh)

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-12-06 04:42 [#00058494]

Baron:

Don't steal my idea... I WANT YOUR SOUL!

btw, you're kinda screwed dood.. unless you sell yourself to
random people for sex... hahahahaha

boxrocket on 2001-12-06 04:43 [#00058495]

*correction* --"to" should be "off"

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-06 06:30 [#00058519]

I know people would pay copious amounts of money to have
copious amounts of sex with me. I'll make some cash and send
it to you, Rocket, but watch out for the women, capische?

Hey, I'm a student, I get £60 a week, but after living
costs have very little to spend on stuff like music, going
out etc.
I save money by:

Buying alcohol from an off license and
drinking at home.

Doing odd-jobs such as gardening amd fixing PCs.

Copying all computer games I want (used to be a big drain on
my cash).

Not eating expensive stuff.

Never eating out, even at takeaways or cafes.

When I do this I can live on about £12 a week excluding
bills & rent.

Remember, even this is a lot of money compared to what some
people have. And if you need to spend that much money on the
woman she obviously doesn't really love you.

doki from grmny on 2001-12-06 12:58 [#00058618]

word man, hehe ... but you know that´s what took me so
fucking long to bring me to that point (not eating takeaways
and shit) ... respect i say!! hope i can follow your
footsteps soon, or i´ll be dead literally ...

Ceri JC from My House in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2001-12-06 13:04 [#00058621]

Th other thing is I go for long periods of working solidly,
I haven't had a holiday since Christmas or a day off from
"Paid" work. Not only does this allow you to stockpile cash
for "doss time", but you're so busy/tired that you don't
have time to spend it.

I did this to pay for my computer, because I knew I wouldn't
be able to afford it when I went back to university.

doki from grmny on 2001-12-06 13:08 [#00058624]

hm, that´s the thing that luckily brings me down - i only
have to think what i could´ve bought of all the money i
spent on "nothing" - that´s when i get very close to
suicide ;-A
btw do you have your comp now (i mean i see you´re posting,
but that could be from some other comp ...)

Ceri JC from My House in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2001-12-06 14:23 [#00058632]

Yup, I'm using the very same computer I built, although I do
sometimes post from Uni, my parents hous and my girlfriend's

Narkotic from Orange County, California, USA on 2001-12-06 16:36 [#00058665]

thats why credit card companies love people like you.. you
aren't in debt $400, you're in debt for $400 plus your nasy
interest rate! no doubt probably at ~19%. no lay is worth
that! 2 things i will never pay for in this life

WATER
and
PUSSY

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-06 16:37 [#00058666]

Oh, by the way, in Denmark, you get payed for studying!!!

But on the contrary... know what the tax rate is in
Denmark???

50%.....

hevquip from 45.697 bits of electricity on 2001-12-06 16:43 [#00058668]

get your priorities straight. food and shelter is more
important than partying and women. i don't spend money. i
may take 20 dollars or less (15 pounds i think) out of my
paycheck that i get every two weeks. the only other thing i
spend money on is gas for my car. personally, i have a debit
card. you can only take out as much money as you have in the
bank. keeps me from spending alot too.

doki from grmny on 2001-12-06 16:50 [#00058670]

hey narkotic: i don´t know where you come from, but are you
serious you don´t have to pay for water??? wow ...

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-06 18:00 [#00058698]

I'm a spoiled brat that never pays for anything. I'm a
college freshman. I've never had a job in my life. 'Tis
easy.

Ceri JC from My House in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2001-12-06 18:34 [#00058710]

Ophecks:
I'd never of admitted that if I were you, everyone will
bitch at you now calling you a spoilt kid ;)

I do get support from my parents, but I augment that with
money from jobs and my student loan.

What do you study?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-06 18:52 [#00058713]

I'm bachelor of arts, major in English, minor in History.
Yeah, I'm a spoiled kid, but I don't care, I could easily go
on my own and do perfectly fine, but why bother when I don't
have to yet. It's fun not having any responsibilities! :)

REPHLEX~ology from UK on 2001-12-06 19:59 [#00058721]

No offence ophecks, but didnt you slam that bloke for being
irresponsible?

1010-1111-10 from St.John\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-06 20:55 [#00058727]

lol

boasting about something like that will piss people off

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-06 21:27 [#00058731]

yeah, I live at home with my parents, they pay for my food,
and stuff... but I paid like 2000 bucks, everything I made
over the summer basically, for my tuition, books, and school
supplies... plus, I don't get car insurance, cause I can't
afford it, and my parents don't pay for it all year... so, I
don't consider myself spoiled... it's a good situation from
my point of view... I gotta pay for my tuitions, but if I
can't come up with enough money, my parents will chip in
with the rest... so I have to try, but I don't have to worry
that I might not be able to go to school because I can't
pay... tis a good situation...

Ceri JC from My House in Pontypridd, Wales, UK on 2001-12-06 23:26 [#00058746]

It's really amusing, some of my lower-upper class friends
get slammed for being supported into their twenties by their
parents. Do any of the people who criticise this really feel
they would say no to it if it was offered to them? I doubt
it, they're just jealous. And jealousy is really silly as it
just makes *you* unhappy.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-06 23:58 [#00058753]

yeah I know... I plan on living at home, and living off my
parents for years yet... I'm in school, so why would I take
on the extra expense of living by myself? Plus, I'd
definately take any money they'd give me if I was living
alone... :)

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-07 01:21 [#00058766]

I couldn't care less what people think of me. Slam me, flame
me, mock me, love me, respect me, rape me, but know this...

I am going to be important.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-07 01:26 [#00058768]

Actually, I have to pay a pretty big portion of my tuition,
but not alot. I am responsible. I rarely drink, and when I
do I take it easy, never take drugs, look after myself quite
well, I rarely murder people, no criminal record, etc etc. I
just don't HAVE to be responsible. Why grow up sooner than I
have to? I'm more than mature enough to do it if I had to,
I'm mentally and emotionally prepared. I'm very capable.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-07 01:45 [#00058771]

well I'd rape you, but you'd have to give me your adress...
but hey, it wouldn't actually be rape, cause you'd enjoy it
babee!!!! :)

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-07 04:52 [#00058801]

I'd say NO NO NO GET OFF ME!!! But secretly, I'd be saying,
YES YES YES GOT OFF IN ME!!!

Ceri JC on 2001-12-07 11:31 [#00058868]

It really amused me in school when we were about 12/13 we
were made to sign a contract in Religious Education class
saying that we would behave like adults and if not we would
accept the punishment. A guy in the class pointed out to the
teacher that we couldn't smoke, drink, have sex, drive, get
a loan etc. so why should we take any of the
responsibilities of an adult without any of the benefits?
The teacher forced him to sign (therefore rendering the
contract void in the eyes of the law again- It was already
void as one party (us) gained nothing from it) and couldn't
give a reason why we should.

My attitude is that by working enough to have money and
hence some degree of leverage in squaresville (read the
adult world) you make yourself free and able to be childlike
in your lack of concern.

1010-1111-10 from St.John\\\\'s Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-07 18:55 [#00058912]

Ophecks if people trash you then they are just assholes.
When i said boasting about that may piss people off i did
not mean for anyone to think i was pissed off. Never would i
want someones life to be downgraded because mine is! Thats
just lame. Well sometimes when i see people take things for
granted i would like to see them in a bad situation so they
appreciate what they have, but you seem to know that you
have it good, and dont take it for granted, which is
respectable.

Lol its true tho if people bitch at you and you asked them
if they would say no to all that, they wouldnt respond cuz
they would look like idiots! If i had those options theres
no way i'd turn them down! I guess its just not having those
options that makes people mad, but why want someone elses
life to sux so you feel better? Thats just cruel.

I have a "friend" (for lack of a better word) that gets all
his stuff paid for (food, shelter, car, insurance, school,
clothes ect...) and he bitches about the stupidest things
and tries to make it out like he has it so bad. He is the
type of person i'd like to change places with to shut him up
and get him to appreciate his situation a little bit!

Hope that clairifys a bit, Ophecks i wuz never pissed at u
and wouldnt want you to not have what you have (if thats
what u thought!).

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-08 00:38 [#00058994]

No problem, I understand. I don't take what I have for
granted at all.

boxrocket on 2001-12-08 03:37 [#00059005]

ceri jc: with your last post you put a certain idea into
words in a way that was very interesting, a way i haven't
really thought of before. i have to say that i honestly
think that statement (about earning the right to live as an
adult by taking on adult responsibilities) has helped me
today (in terms of my outlook on how things are going
financially and emotionally for me right now). it's been a
rough couple of days (i think i'm bi-polar but haven't been
diagnosed with it) and that simple statement you just made
has helped me see the lighter side of things. thank you good
sir.
