This keynote speech is pretty rubbish.

At the moment they have some guy playing a midi keyboard
through a Mac. Can't I do that with a PC?

it's actually a new audio app they're demoing.

"A major new Pro music tool, but it's for everyone." You can
digitally mix up to 64 tracks, play over 50 software
instruments, play with a USB or MIDI keyboard. 1000
professional audio loops, a la Soundtrack. You can record
live audio performances, more than 200 audio effects, pick
from vintage or modern guitar amps. Musician John Mayer
helps Jobs to demonstrate GarageBand.

What can I do in GarageBand that you can't do in Cubase
already?

Steve Jobs just demo'd how you can create music from 'loops'
by 'sequencing' them and speeding them up/slowing them down.

Apple: Pioneers.

i'm not watching this - but based on the description if
you're already advanced enough musically to be using Cubase
the this app isn't for you. i'm guessing it's aimed at the
novice or hobbiest ala Reason "...for everyone"

iPod mini

4GB (approx 1000 songs)
0.5 inch thick

But a $249 price tag. That's a lot more expensive than the
£65 that was rumoured. Bah.

The screen is the same with the same interface. The buttons
have been moved and integrated with the scroll-wheel.

Also they announced that the 10GB iPod will now be 15GB for
the same price.

so the same as the 2nd generation? buttons around the scroll
wheel, nice, i prefer the buttons that way. I'll have to
have a look at some decent pictures before i decide.

when are they released?

i'm sorry, this is probably a little off topic here, but you
cannot class Reason as a novice program!!!

Unless you know what an ADSR envelope does and technical
synthesis stuff, you're not going to be able to do much with
Reason.

If a novice was gonna get Reason just for the purpose of
using the preset loops and patches, then they might as well
buy the latest version of eJay!!!

lol
