I dont know if this has been mentioned before. But has
anyone noticed the simularities between the guitar in
Venetian Snares' Einstien Rosen Bridge and Pink Floyd's
Wall?

A bit now you mention it but it just like that disco style
chop effect isn't it?

I think the guitar player dude in Chic evented that style or
probably James Brown at least.

i wouldn't be amazed...

Venetian Snares is quite known for stealing melodies
apparently, from what i've read on the board... (like 'Dance
Like You're Selling Nails', ripped from 'Chase The Sun' by
Planet Funk, which i've verified -i prefer the original by
the way- etc.)

by the way am i the only one to find 'Einstein-Rosen Bridge'
very annoying, the kind of annoying song that sticks to you
and you want to get rid of? (i've only heard a sample of it
though) ' _ '

From the Mu board:

Author: ">Snares
Date: 06-10-03 03:43

I ripped the melody from Dance Like Your Selling Nails from
an Ennio Morricone record. Other than that I'm not sure what
this kid is trying to say...that I sampled these melodies or
I copied them or what. I can say I haven't done that but
anyone can believe whatever they like. I'm sure that road
from the ear to the mind takes many different turns for
everyone. I don't know why I bother even replying to this.
Why do I even bother releasing music anymore? I can tell you
I'm really sick of being even a passing thought in the minds
of people I really don't respect because this 'IDM' scene or
whatever the fuck it is treats music like a pissing contest.
I don't want to be a part of that. I'm not Star Trek and I'm
not pandering to fanatical imbeciles that are too gimped up
to have ever kicked around a soccer ball. Why is it so
fucking important what I do? Why isn't it more important
what you do? I know I don't give a fuck what you do, if your
records were on amazon.com I wouldn't put them in my
shopping cart. Wanna know why? Cuz I don't give a fuck about
you.

Sorry I'll get back in my shrinkwrap now,

Aaron

peoples stuff...

oh, he's so hardcore... I better buy his albums...

the fact is, in my opinion his music sounds like crap... I
listened to one of his albums, and I have no desire to hear
anything else... I listen to some music by some of these
more "underground" artists who are signed to labels like
Warp and Planet Mu or whatever, and I wonder why they're
signed... I haven't heard much music by artists on this
board, but I have heard a bit, and most of what I have heard
is better then this shit...

just my opinion of course... so don't go getting all mad at
me here...

I think its absolutely awesome that you replied 'whatever.'
to yourself.

Anywho, lets say he stole every melody ever. Who gives a
shit. I wouldn't listen to the original. so yeah

I appreciate the half witted sardonicism. And your
assumption that it was directed to myself was also very
perceptive of you. Becuase I happened to be the only member
logged in on the board at that time.

For the record. Aaron is my favorite person in the whole
wide world. I didnt want this thread to turn in this
direction. I just made what i thought was an interesting
observation and I wanted to see if anyone else shared my
idea.

Music is about progression, it doesnt matter in the
slightest who he was inspired by or how. Granted, if it
wasnt for Ennio Morricone perhaps there would be no Dance
Like your Selling Nails. And if there was no Dance like your
selling Nails, then the question of 'what will we be missing
out on in the future' arises.
