Hey, while I've been away, Mad Cow strikes.....

I've always loved steak and hot dogs and shit, but dear god,
"Downer Cows"
Stunners, Mechanical Carcas Stripping, dear christ!

I've been reading up on this for a bit now, read the NY
Times article Cattle Industry

and looking at slaughterhouse pics, and I want to vomit. I
can handle anything gross you throw at me, but I want to
gouge out my eyes.

Google: Cow Slaughter.

------------
I've always hated vegitarians, but I'm thinking of not ever
touching beef again......

You have to read up for youself, but I really am repulsed.
Veal, and shit.......jeezus!!!!!

and enjoy my juicy, tender, steaks and burgers.

the thing is, I'm no radical lefty. I love steak, but the
things that are STANDARD practice.

how they shoot bolts into the cow before they hang it up by
it's feet and slit it's throat to bleed it.

How the spine is ripped out before machines hydrolically
strip the carcass.

jeezus, read, or do a google search, I just did, and it
turned my steak eating world upside down :(

Zues, that's the POINT! That's what I EAT!

I saw hot dogs at the store today, and I usually get two
packs, but I was like..........uh...........

That's not gross, that's NORMAL, that's how it's done.

yeah, obviously killing animals and preparing them to be
eaten ain't going to be a pretty sight... anyone who thinks
so is pretty nieve... so I don't need to look at those
pictures, cause I know they're gross... I still enjoy the
food!

Vegitarian is such a bad term. I eat more pasta then veggies
I would think.
It's not a life of only eating brocolli and carrots you know
: )

I just think eating meat is lazy. There are way to many
mechanics to it now and that just turns me off. It's not
like "Oh from farmer dan to your plate".
It's more like "Killed at this place, ripped appart at all
these other places, packaged somewheres else then sold to
you at the store! Hurray!"

I don't try to be captain america about the subject or
anything but I sometimes wish I was better edjucated on the
subject at an earlier age.

Like seriously it's pretty easy unless your an idiot. Take
it one step at a time and watch your step : )
I'm not a level 5 vegan or anything but I try harder each
day to messure out what I feel is fair or not.

All meateaters should visit the slaughterhouse from which
the meat comes from as ofthen as possible.
It's the way it's always been, and always will be.

I don't eat meat though, so I can spend my sundaymornings in
bed, recovering from a night of alcohol, and maybe, drunken
posting on xlt.

ok, I know I've been out of the loop for a number of weeks,
but..........don't you guys read the damned papers?

Cows that are disesed and can't walk, are killed and made
into food that techincally isn't fit for a dog.

----------
I would react the same way most of you are, until I did the
reaserch, just go to google and type in COW SLAUGHTER.

Or go to the AIM website, they talk about all this. How to
stun a cow before you "Stick it"

Obviously there will be blood, and humans will always eat
meat, me included, but why is it so fucking gross, my meat
on the floor with nerve tissue from a machine that ripped
apart the carcas.

ugh.

humans will always eat meat.

You make it sound like it's a must.
it's not. it's a decision.

I'm not a veggie, nor against meat eating, lord knows I
don't eat much else, I think I just want to find a store
that sells meat from a real farm, not a metal pen.

reaserch, just go to google and type in COW SLAUGHTER. "

yeah, but the difference is YOU went out to find this info.

we didnt. So dont try to force it on us.

I like meat. that will never change. I was brought up eating
it. None of these pictures or stories will change my mind...
they will just be unpleasent to read/see.

and so why would I want that?

Come on Zeus, I'm not forcing anything on anyone.

I'm not making any judgments about meat eaters (I EAT BEEF)
or any remarks about how beef is evil.

I'm pointing out a NY Times article today that talks about
the process, and it's fucking revolting. I don't like the
idea of eating meat that went through that, that was fed in
those pens, that was possibly not able to stand up.

I want farm fresh, not this mechanical shit, and the scraps
of all of it being stuffed into intensitines means I won't
be eating hot dogs for a while.

It was NY Times and the mainstream media that brought it up,
I agree with them, the procedures are barbaric, and I don't
want to eat shit that was torn apart that way.

Oh by the way I have loads of friends who work/worked at the
local slaughter house and hot dogs worse then you think.

-- Just skip this part if you dont want to know --

When they terminate the animals they usally blood them (most
of the time they are hung from a high place). They collect
the blood in huge bucket things and save it for the hot dog
batch.

There is a huge industrial size blender
that they thorw all the left overs in (lips and assholes as
we all know lol) and they turn on these huge blanders.

Once everthing is mushed up they add the blood to give it
the pink color (because prior to this the blender is
seriously filled with a grey mush of lips and assholes)

Funny thing is that all the different hotdog companies that
they supply too all come from the same batch! hahaha just
more or less blood ! Wahahahaha!

I don't get it.

All people should be aware of the consequences of ones
actions.
If you pay for meat, you pay for people to kill animals (of
course; you should also be aware of how the animals are
killed, preferably by visiting a couple of
slaughterhouses).

Also on the subject; Every person alive ought to be aware of
the consequences of what one decides to eat, just like one
will check out what different drugs to you before testing.

come to the dark side of
vvvveeegetarianisssmmmm
(aka the healthy side)
:D

i switched 7 months ago, and i have never felt healthier in
my entire life. and it really doesnt take much effort,
either. after a few weeks, i had no desire to touch a piece
of meat ever again. the desire just goes away eventually,
and you have more energy, etc... plus, the chances for heart
disease and cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, are all
dropped drastically. (and by drastically, i mean in some
cases upwards of 98 and 99%). i think its easily one of the
biggest choices a person can make in todays society to stay
healthy, and its not hard at all.
:D

Even if you never eat meat again, if you have 2 kids and
they each have 2 kids and so forth, the majority of whom eat
meat, you're aiding the evil unhealthy path of earth's
current ecology exponentially. And even if you don't have
any kids, others who share basically the same dna will.

hmmm well I dont know the effectiveness of their "looking
over only 20'000 cows each yeah" considering the amount of
cows in america, this is a drop in the bucked and really it
does nothing. strange.

meat is not wrong, its just how its gotten, like big meat
farms and slaughterhouses, I mean if it were all like WAYYYY
back in the day, thats OK, but not how its being done these
days.

blatantEcho; why thanks, I just dont get it, I mean if they
wanted to know how many cows are infected they'd have to
inspect them all, not a measly small % of them!

As well, its true that they are mistreated in inhumane
conditions, but there has to be a different answer than just
"its bad" because there are so many humany on this planet
that eat COW that these farms..... well they were made for a
reason, we cannot rely on personal farms and such, like in
the past. But.... well shit I dont know the answer, but
there must be one!

it really is disgusting.

yeah sure, if you want to eat meat, that's okay, but do you
