well hello again, i just finished my first song of the year
2004 (and the first song i've done in about a month as well
i think) and i would really really appreciate it if some of
the xltronic members here would listen and tell me what they
think. its about 9.6mb/7min/192kbps and it is un titled:

here

thank you

very atmospheric.

the piano needs to be a little more gentle, and the mental
scratches are unneccesary. althought i love the synths
ambience, the helicopter sounds, and the majority of the
piano notes.
good stuff

i would call the song
"deusexmachina"

cause its such a powerful name. seeing as the helicopter
coming to retrieve the near dead was seen as a "machine of
god" back in the war. and this is such a war song w/o the
scratches.

I like the beginning very well, its a pretty good track.

You know something funny, I was taking a shower earlier and
the words Deus Ex Machina popped in my head, however I don't
think that should be the title, thats too common, think of
something original to call it.

Mmm this is good stuff. As it started I was thinking Boards
of Canada, then the percussion type beat kicked in and I
thought eeek that don't sound right. But then I figure what
the hell its fresh maybe I ought to have an open mind. Yes
this has kinda confounded my expectations especially with
the piano and all. Yes this is a deep piece wouldn't
necessarily put it on to boogie down to or really to put me
a good mood but this is good. Very filmic, the piano work is
exceptional. Some serious quality on the board these days. I
don't think one can fault this to be honest, certainly not
from a technical or aesthetic point of view. And you've
carried the piece well over the duration without it becoming
boring which was a big fear when I had when I started
listening.

For what it is its an exceptional piece.

thx u (i don't want to say "thank you" because my last 3
posts in this thread begin with that :P)

this is a bump (and hopefully the final bump) i am sorry if
this annoys the people who don't want to see "my new track"
topics.

yes, I like everything but the glitchy scratch stuff, which
kind of seems out of place with regard to the rest of the
track, I love the synths , the "helicopter-sound" and the
piano though. I agree with gwelymernans that the paino maybe
a bit too harsh sounding and could use perhaps a filter of
some kind, but that's only a matter of taste, in the end it
comes down to what you think it should sound like. This
maybe the first track (coming from this site) to stay on my
HD since Virginpusher's Lucidikah stuff.

p.s.: If you have a version without the scratchy sounds I
hold myself available to receive it ;)

the "scratchy" sounds were actually the main focus of this
track when i started it and i just sort of added the piano
as a sort of interlude type thing or soemthing. i suppose
it wouldn't be too difficult for me to do an edit of this
without the percussion but i don't have one available right
now. maybe i will get around to it sometime..

also (random information ahead!!), the "helicopter sound" is
actually not really a helicopter, it is a JPEG file i opened
in goldwave that sounded a lot like a helicopter (which is
strange because most jpegs are just static/noise)

Oops, I guess I ruined it for you then. But I really love
all the rest, and that's really a rare occurence in my case.

what did you ruin? i don't think you ruined anything for
me.. i hope you don't think i was offended by something you
said or something :) thank you for listening

Interesting track - starts out BOCish, gets into this
Snaresy sounding noise, then the piano mixes it up even
more. Could be shorter and more focused but it's a very
interesting listen.

My response was supposed to be: "oops I didn't realize it
was meant for the scratchy sound to be "main thing".
And then place an emoticon such as:
:S
or
:X

excellent track!

well that was just my original intention, as i developed the
track i think the piano part became much more "powerful"
than the percussion.

and once again thanks to everyone who listened (and if
anyone else listens in the future just pretend i made a post
thanking you because i feel guilty about bumping the topic)
