don't get me wrong i love mike p and most of his aliases.
but have you ever noticed how he re-releases a lot of his
older non µ-ziq material as µ-ziq?

take "silk ties" for example, it is on the new album Bilious
Paths, but he's already released it as rude ass tinkers.
he's released "the motorbike track" as tusken raiders, as
well as on Royal Astronomy.
and he remixed múm a while back, on their remixed cd, and
then used the same drums on "mouse bums" on bilious paths.

again, i love most of the stuff he's ever done, but wouldn't
you rather get all new material next time?

he has used A LOT of his old samples on bilious paths. Which
is great, me thinks.

His upcoming album Meast (as Kid Spatula) features
previously unreleased (but available as promos and MP3s)
tracks.

worry about it.

re-using the samples you've made is sort of like strumming
the same guitar you've used on a previous track....

i think it's perfectly fine using the same samples and such
in new songs, but when you re-release full tracks under
different names, i think it's a little bit like cheating. i
dunno, sue me.

I've only really heard "royal astronomy" and I hated that.

I hated those string synths - sounded disgusting to me.

i dont really mind it too much, as long as he makes it
apparent and doesn't try to pass it off as new.

i wasn't too fond of it either, but i recommend lunatic
harness, as it is free of that.

on second thought, fuck this. it's nice he releases some of
his other rare stuff from other names, because otherwise we
wouldn't get to hear it. fuck it, i shoulda thought twice
before raggin' on the guy. he's great.

btw i don't post many topics that get over 10 posts :)
thanks guys.

if you pay enough attention to autechre, you hear the same
sounds all the time. and personally, a few tracks sound like
the same one, but different versions and i cant remember the
2 tracks i'm thinking of.

i still need to get Bilious Paths - i'm SO falling out of
the IDM scene, in terms of owning newer releases.
