it sounds like 80's ambient techno

its ok overall but the intro didnt sound right and the mbira
goes on for too long

You need to check the original track from Spacecadet. You
know compare the two as well. Here is the link
Scarlett Sunshine.

Thanks for listening.

I reckon the title put people off (they might think it's an
hour long ;) I like it. The marimba type instrument normally
sounds pretty cheesy outside of Reich's stuff in my opinion,
but it works well here, especially the way it takes back
seat for a while before coming back to the front. Solid
percussion as ever- the stop starty breakbeat at 1.30ish
works nicely. Good track, I'm keeping this.

Come on folks DL it, this is some top notch stuff!

Yeah well about 1 hour and 30 mins in total.

I used to spend atleast 1.5 weeks on my work... hehe.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-03 07:30 [#01015260]

Technically its a pretty basic tune and the beats aren't
that complex so quite frankly it took no time to do.

ok.
don't get me wrong, sometime one has flow when making a
track (and usually thoose are the tracks that turn out
good)...
it's just that your post "I spend time on it" was kinda
funny since you "only" spend 1.5 hours on it... I usually
spend several hours just on mastering.

I don't think people should be down on a track just because
it was done quickly- this was a remix after all... Some
great original tracks have been done in under an hour,
Celebrity Skin by Hole took twenty minutes. Improv jazz
takes as long as the track to make. I don't imagine
Millionaire Dogs by LFO took terribly long either. Sometimes
simple things sound great as they are- there's no need to
overwork them for the sake of it.

of course not (I didn't mean to make it seem like I thought
so)....
but I do doubt "Celibrity skin" was written, recorded and
mastered in 20 minutes.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-03 07:59 [#01015284]

Yeah good point Ceri. I was kinda thinking, 'do I need to do
more on it', because I literally did it in such a short
time. You almost feel guilty 'cause usually you spend like
ages on some jungle track. He he.

I don't know if you were talking about me there, but I can
tell you that I would much rather be done quick and be happy
with what I've done than to work on it in eternity.
As I wrote earlier, most good stuff is finnished soon after
beginning (atleast [most of] the concept or structure),
during a flow of creativity.

It is only 3.30mins by the way and not 1 hour in case you
lot were worrying.

the pad melodies are very nice and the percussion is good as
well. i think it might be better if at the begining the
pads came in before the percussion and marimba though.

I like this remix a lot! Although a bit harsher it has a
slightly warmer feel to it than the original and is easily
just as good *makes sure spacecadet isn't around*, maybe
slightly better? It is always nice to hear remixes of past
tracks.

Thanks to hyakusen for bumping this. I had forgotten about
Spacecadet after my disk crash, now I can rediscover him and
enjoy his tracks once more!

Yeah I need to refine the levels on this mix I'd say.
Certain parts were just a bit too loud IMO.
