Coil - Live one is awesome. You have to hear the live
version of Elves, scared me shitless first time I heard it!

Damn, I haven't really heard any of thier live stuff, except
the bonus track on Moon's Milk (in four phases).

Have you seen them live?

There is a series of 4 live albums, i've only got Live one
so far but I will be getting the rest soon if they are as
good as that one... and if I have the money.

for mix cd transitioning

I would love for them to make a soundtrack to a David Lynch
film!

I haven't had the chance to see them live. I will probably
get these Live albums when I have the cash, they sound good.

I have really heard much by coil after love's secret domain
and the snow ep came out so many moons ago. all i can gather
is that theyre apparently like some spooky ambient
experimental type shit. i heard the remix they did for Slag
Boom Van Loon and didnt like it at all.

what does coil sound like now anyhow?

with bag angsty "pagan-orgies-and-drugs-are-cool" lyrics.

coil bores me

B7 for everyone in this thread

offline Labium Sweat from United States on 2004-01-02 14:27 [#01014193]
Points: 922 Status: Regular

You know something that pissed me off, if I remember
correctly, they weren't even credited for that song in the
credits of Seven. They just listed it as though it were the
normal song. And another thing, they didn't mention that
song at all in the commentary on the DVD, as though it was a
piece of shit or something that they threw in last second to
appeal to teens.

vp: b7 to you, dingleberry.

lab: the funniest thing i remember reading about that is
that nails didnt even ask coil if they could use that remix
in the movie. i guess the studio asked trent and he just
ok'ed it, like he did it. anyone whos ever heard coil knows
thats practically a new song. trent is wank.

opinion.

I'm not into the more overtly experimental stuff of the
latter and recent years, but Scatology and its ilk are some
of my favorite albums ever.

Rosa Decidua is probably my favourite Coil track at the
moment, i definately prefer their later work but some of
their early tracks are excelent too.

Ubu Noir is disgustingly beautiful track.
I thought their remake of Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire" was
really nifty too.

Oh, forgot to mention, Worship the Glitch is another
favorite album.

panta: no, but members of coil have appeared on nurse with
wound releases over the years.

they (steven stapleton) are closely tied to current 93
also.

his best stuff id say is:

acts of senseless beauty
thunder perfect mind
the newish one
sylvie and babs
who can i turn to stereo?
large ladies with cake in the oven

i guess i haven't looked hard enough. Amazon.co.uk have them

cd's from will have them.

Nurse With Wound is mostly one man's work: Steven
Stapleton...

'Man With The Woman Face' is only 35 minutes long but is
really great =)
also if you can get 'Alice The Goon', it's very good (i
think you can only get it on mp3, it's out of print now)

yes, NWW can be hard to get - anything by World Serpent can
be hard to get... (i'm getting mad about a particular NWW
release i'm trying to get now, limited edition initial
pressing only 1000 copies etc. etc. etc. i don't know if
i'll ever get it someday but i really want to) =(

i had no problem at all getting Man With The Woman Face and
An Awkward Pause on amazon though... it really depends on
the releases and how soon you get them etc...

strangefortune and ebay are the only places to go for coil
releases(and local independent shops if they carry
experimental music and not just indie rock).

coil, nww and c93 are excellent, although all very esoteric,
and i love it. i prefer more recent coil to older stuff
like horse rotorvator but that album is still very good.

"An album of material recorded using the ANS Synthesizer, a
one-of- a-kind photoelectronic instrument at Moscow State
University.

This initial single disc edition is packaged in a black
clamshell case with no information except for the text "COIL
ANS" printed on the disc. It was available at the
merchandise table at several live Coil performances in
Spring, 2003, and also as part of the limited edition box
set of the Live series.

A two disc version with full artwork is planned for wider
release in the future."
