I was think thinking more along the lines of exact covers...
the challenge would be in making it sound like the
original.

i like the idea of covers, but not exact and especially if
the tracks came from a variety of genres (i'd like to hear
someone do boston, or devo, or vince guaraldi! (besides the
moog cookbook, in boston's case)).

also, people who don't care what others think about them
don't bother expressing that sentiment at all. so don't
care.
