I just got the complete collection of the far side by gary
larson... all four thousand something cartoon's in 2 heavy
ass leather bound books... I'd forgotten how funny these
cartoons are.. there's such a sense of sarcastic dry wit
throught the collection. It's also full of hate mail from
various uptight christans and animal rights groups... I can
see why too, there are some pretty sadistic cartoons in the
bunch, especially for a natioanlly syndicated cartoon. Any
other far side fans here?

yeah ive always been into gay larson's stuff, especially
when I was younger. like 8 years ago. but hes great to this

yeah I love it!

I sure would like the complete collection!

some of his work is kinda "cruel", but it's a cartoon - so
it does no harm. Instead e.g. if one is offended by animals
getting hurt - you change in the way that you hurt less
animals yourself (well, if you know how, etc); and that's
what you want, if you're offended.

I like 'em very much. the dark streak is what makes them
special.

have you seen the animations that were made? those were also
excellent - the BBC has produced a tape with them on it -
sadly no dvd version available.

so I read on there (Amazon) that Larson stopped making those
cartoons about 9 years ago.
