it seems that nowadays someone capable of operating a signal generator can call themselves a musician

i have +/- by him and i like it!
of course you have to like minimalism to appreciate Ryoji Ikeda;.... and i can totally understand people thinking it's shit, it's just like some modern abstract minimalist art...

i dont hate his "music" but im not that interested in it. though a few concepts did intrigue me. one song of his apparently sounds like a regular song when you fast foward it on a cdplayer. so ive been told at least, didnt hear it yet.
still, his ultra minimalism bugs me. i like minimal, but id like some depth, and ryoji's stuff just doesnt cut it for me. sound/cd experimentism was much better done by ovals earlier stuff (i really dont give a shit about markus popps recent stuff) like 94diskont and systemisch when the other two members were involved. something like that i could appreciate. ikedas music just doesnt do anything for me in any aspect, so its hard for me to have a strong liking/disliking towards it i suppose.

I was told to check him out, so I did, but I can't get into it. Some sporadic nice sounds and some moments of interest, and I like the general ''feel'' and ambience of it. It's very... clean. Agonizingly boring in the space between those isolated moments though.
