After world war II the Russians built the largest bomb in the world, almost equivilent to 10 times ALL the explosives used in WW2 including the two nukes dropped by the Americans!!
I just saw some footage of this explosion on television, goddamn this is crazy! The bomb's name was "The Czar". appropriatly named I suppose.
Also I learned that the reason why they exploded and would still explode nukes or large explosives above the ground and not On the ground is because of the shock wave that bounces back up and joins the original wave, it makes the explosion much stronger. Called something like the STEM EFFECT or something. Quite interesting.
Fuckin crazy how these bombs were for absolute destruction and political grip.

the blast wave was big enough to be measured after its third trip around the world!
it was blown up 2 miles off the ground, and the mushroom cloud rose 40 fuckin miles into the air! rocks on the ground were turned to nothing but ash. it was 4 times bigger than anything america has ever produced or exploded.

Sweet init. And the fact sassy people want to stop this happening is gay. They queue up all annoyed because a frisky leader wanna press a button.

If you are looking look for "Mach effect" as it tends to be used more than stem effect.

I saw a program on Us attempts to build a nuclear powered jet. The Russians were trying at the same time, but they didn't bother with small matters such as reactor sheilding so all the test pilots and crews died. The US realised it wasn't feasible and lost out especially after the Navy developed the nuclear sub where the weight of sheilding wasn't an issue.
Instead the US airforce developed a nuclear powered missile. It was particularly good because from the time it was launched it spewed out radioactive waste over the landscape on its path to its target, then a nuclear explosion. Sadly the missile was never used due to the nuclear treaty being signed in the 60's...but all was not wasted, the targeting system from this nuke was the basis for the Patriot missile.

I learned in physics class that the reason they blow up nuclear bombs in the sky (and not on ground) is, that you still have the shockwave but that the following fallout would be minimal, allowing the attackers to move in more quickly.

hmmm
qrter: yes that is also true, the fallout is considerably less. it all gets blown away , or most does.
apeshitz: 1 to 3 would probably do.
