a new friend of mine was saying that there are 3 different version, with 3 different endings...
lots of little extra bits, there's many sites detailing all of this as well...
great flick.

Okay I've thought it through... what was the point of any of it other than a reason for Terry Gilliam to show us what was going on in his mind?

i think the essence of "brazil" would be lost in explanation. also, i am quite certain that even terry gilliam does not understand it entirely (based on his own commentary). aside from being a satire of western civilization, i think it is about discovering that you live in a prison called freedom, and in the end and a word, liberation.
i had the opportunity to see a brand new print (at the time) of "brazil" in 1998 (missed the screening with terry gilliam, though), and it's a favorite of mine.

actually maybe he isn't as he's having trouble financing it.
How can Paul Anderson get financing for movies when he has made 99% shit films and an excelent director like Gilliam can't?

I guess that answer to that depends on which Paul Anderson you're referring to.

Paul Thomas Anderson makes gooood films such as Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punchdrunk Love.
Paul W S Anderson makes crap, but reasonably entertaining pap such as Event Horizon, Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat.
