Is []pusher better than RDJ?

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-04 18:43 [#00058104]

I want to know...

I'm torn between them, who to choose?

evolume from at work in bothell, north of seattle, USA on 2001-12-04 18:54 [#00058110]

nah

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-04 18:58 [#00058112]

Well said! :)

I agree.

Rich from ? on 2001-12-04 18:59 [#00058113]

No way. RDJ is the king and no one come close to his ability
and talent.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-04 18:59 [#00058115]

That's easy for you to say, Rich. After all, you're the
Twin, ain't ya?

fuck these musicians on 2001-12-04 20:25 [#00058121]

For someone to ask this kind of question hurts my soul.

But nonetheless, Vanilla Ice is still the champ or
electronic music.

fuck these musicians on 2001-12-04 20:28 [#00058122]

or=of

XSet from Trieste on 2001-12-04 21:26 [#00058137]

I like Aphex Twin but even []pusher.
I heard that squarepusher use often guitars and aphex use
often the piano.
I like both.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-04 21:36 [#00058141]

I command you to pick RDJ!!!!

f.l.e.a from doghole on 2001-12-04 21:38 [#00058142]

I think it's more of a seesawing pendulum kinda dealie goin
on between the two..each raising the stakes with their
release, invogorating the other to surpass...but that's only
the level of complexity of the songs...on other accounts
they are vastly different..Jenkinson's tunes no matter how
warped and mutated has it's roots in conventional/ avant
Jazz jako pastoriousis (sp) music...
RDJ makes and breaks his own rules as he goes along...
IMHO of coarse...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-04 22:02 [#00058151]

I haven't heard much Squarepusher myself, but I know that
RDJ is an amazing artist... I will always be a fan of his
music...

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-04 22:51 [#00058168]

i like bogdan the best . then square pusher. then aphex

Aron? from Canada on 2001-12-04 22:54 [#00058171]

jesus, i thought more peopel would like mr. jenkinson more.

i still love him
then bogdan
then aphex
then all the rest

Dumb English Guy from England on 2001-12-04 22:56 [#00058172]

Well don't get me wrong, i love Squarpusher, but overall
you've got to admit that his stuff is a lot less listenable
that Aphex. Too much maths involved. He's done about 5 REAL
classics to Aphex's 15 or more (argue amongst yourselves)

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-04 22:57 [#00058174]

bogdan beats em all

Bogus on 2001-12-04 23:06 [#00058178]

i thin they are the perfect complement to each other.

sp's music is based on the aestethic of sound... RDJ music
is based on goofing around and trying to put a tought or
idea into music.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-04 23:43 [#00058192]

Bogdan is OK, but boring. Only RDJ consistently captures my
imagination. Only the Beatles make me happier than he does.

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-05 00:00 [#00058203]

ophecks?????

bogdan is boring?! holy shit!
boku mo wakaran and samurai math beats have probably the
most replay value of any album ive ever heard.
well....to me anyway.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-05 00:49 [#00058219]

I lied. I've only ever heard Samurai Math Beats. Sometimes I
lie, so sue me! What are his best songs, I'll be the judge,
jury and executioner of his replay value.

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, Canada on 2001-12-05 03:53 [#00058254]

GOD NO!!! Don't even ask that question!
Daft!!!

Korben Dallas from _ on 2001-12-05 04:08 [#00058257]

One and the same person aint they?

;)

fOrTkNoX from knoXmodeL001 on 2001-12-05 05:43 [#00058269]

nope.....
aphex is untouchable....
{} pusher is a new gaunra oF aphex.....

od from perth on 2001-12-05 08:02 [#00058290]

aphex is arguably more diverse (drikqs to saw2 to ventolin
to hab)

squarpeusher is more loud music (sometimes afx is too nice
to play loud...the string bit etc..hehe)

im more into squarepusher at the moment, but afx has some
real classics.
also i reckon they both have some songs which I (meaning ME,
not EVERYONE) regard as shit. but I (see def. above) thnink
afx has done more bullshit songs.

but I (again) dont know.

i view them as equal.

Korben Dallas from _ on 2001-12-05 10:26 [#00058320]

Either way, I think it'll be exiting - fucken aye what them
two will/could conjure up on this whole MEN label.

Just the thought of them two, helping each other on several
tracks n shit - that would be really cool n that. Not that
they can't do it themselves, but get some amalgamation of
some of the crazy jungle vibes n that. Personally I can't
get enough of Freeman Hardy - esp. LOUD! :)

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-05 10:30 [#00058323]

lol@ naming bogdans songs
they are all either untitled or in japanese, ophecks.
id rather not try.

al>< from dublin on 2001-12-05 11:37 [#00058345]

lads, lads, lads, lads, lads

my sense of 'i don't need to debate this shit' is
over-ridden by my sense of passion for these two artists and
how, i hate to admit, they stir a buzz in me that, i've said
before, is a bit like how the monolith in 2001:A space
Odyssey affected a couple of primitive chaps!

Anyway to me they're both equal but extremely different.
They both have an amazing sense of groove and melody that
gets ya everytime.
Both produce albums in which, even after a hundred listens,
you still hear hihats, basslines, blips and tweeks ya never
heard before.
They both take genres and twist 'em perfectly into almost
anti-genres, yet never seem corny or cliched.
They simply got what every crappy mtv-freindly artist
wants...hosest to goodness fucking talent !!

Taxi on 2001-12-05 15:22 [#00058376]

[]pusher and RDJ don't got shit on AE.

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-05 15:54 [#00058381]

To put it quite simply: NO!

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-05 15:57 [#00058382]

i have to say i dont much like dirty priest's disposition.
its off topic and on it at the same time but i think ive
dissagreed with everything this guy has ever said.

AE is very fun to listen to. they get the best sounds.

Bogus on 2001-12-06 07:40 [#00058548]

AE sucks a lot.

Maybe you haven't notcied but all their "different" sounds
sound all alike.

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-06 15:58 [#00058648]

Perhaps you dont like the fact that i dont praise the
motherfucking land of illusions.

usa if you didnt guess.

Squarepusher is inferior! and i could back it up, if you
would like to hear it.

al>< from dublin on 2001-12-06 16:02 [#00058650]

i'm all ears!!!

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-06 16:04 [#00058651]

First of all, squarepusher is Influenced by Aphex twin,
aphex came first. this does make aphex better in my
oppinion. Squarepusher overproduces all his fast tracks with
bleeps and shit, hes not as diverse as aphex in styles, his
ambient tracks dosnt touch me. He´s an aphex ripoff with a
jazz twist.

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-06 16:06 [#00058652]

Oh and,He sounds a lot "Colder" than aphex. the treble is
always insaly high in his tracks, with means i´m gradually
building up tinitus by listening to him!

I´m not saying hes bad, aphex is just better.

Monoid on 2001-12-06 16:07 [#00058653]

I LIKE SQUAREPUSHER BETTER ! SQUAREPUSHER IS DA MAN !

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-06 16:24 [#00058661]

but, squarepusher DID get into the whole drill and bass
thing before richard.
whether that means anything i dont know.
i think they have equal influence on eachother.

Dirtypriest from Denmark on 2001-12-06 16:26 [#00058662]

Hmmm. you have a point.
But its not going to change my point of wiew. Still, i can
understand why people dig squarepusher. hes kinda cool. But
bogdan raczynski, and alec empire is also interesting.

al>< from dublin on 2001-12-06 16:52 [#00058671]

dirtypriest.
Read the cover of 'feed me weird things' and note who wrote
it and talk to us about influences then. Also, ever read the
biographies of these 2 artists? The way they operate is
extremely different and personal, just parallel. As for
diversity.....from FMWT to GP, i think SP shows a diversity
with a consistency for excellence that is equal to AFX. What
about live stuff? Totally different operators but the energy
output due to their individual passions is awesome..
(i'm a bit of a hardcore fan of SP's by the way!)

jupitor from kansas on 2001-12-06 17:06 [#00058677]

hello, right i've just been to www.aphex-twin.com and read
an faq by richard it said he is Squarepusher, it also said
that the album was just a collection of fakes he had found
on the web.

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-06 17:08 [#00058679]

haha!
it also says he uses goats with hoovemods to make his music,
and has an endoscope that he uses on his brain.

you cant take what he says seriously.

crayon_kid from the inner reaches of your soul... on 2001-12-06 17:11 [#00058682]

21) What is your favourite gadget?

Oh it would have to be this endoscope I got from LOOT a
couple of years ago,it had ,had a fair bit of use mind you
but its a one off model which can go inside your brain via
your nostrils and tickle different regions of your body
automatically, its got a USB connection and came bundled with
some MAC software, its got a neuro reciever on one bit which
can directly pick up various thoughts and signals that
happen to be flying around whatever region you happen to be
poking,it's so cool man.

lmao@ putting a used anal camera up your nose. what a kidder

ohin from USA on 2001-12-06 17:15 [#00058686]

Bogdan
squarepusher
aphex twin
autechre

then again they all have very different styles, so i guess
it depends on my mood more than their talent.

jupitor from kansas on 2001-12-06 17:15 [#00058687]

lol the whole interview is great just like me i mean him

f.l.e.a from doghole on 2001-12-06 19:40 [#00058716]

it has to be said that if there was no AFX and RDJ..there
would have been no SP or Ae..or at least in the shape and
form we know and love..
it really isn't worth arguing over
