I'm going to use it for CG and gaming.

1) NO MACS
2) $Under 3,000
3) I don't want to build my own

any suggestions?

I was looking at the Dell XPS with top-of-line
options.

Alright...I'll help ya out. Since you are in deh USA, I'll
fill you in on what I know. I like going to Fry's
Electronics (both store and site www.outpost.com to look
around) b/c they have one here. You'll have to check around
to different sites for different promotions, ie.:
tigerdirect.com, compusa.com, xgamer.com (yeah how's that
for random!), etc. I'm not saying that retail stores have
the best deal, just an idea. Stay away from HP/Compaqs, if
anything. I'm not a huge fan of Dell either (prices,
features). I've always had Gateway PC's and have had my
share of issues, but they seem to be of good value nowadays.
Be sure to check out the Alienware PC's (big grin)
www.alienware.com and deals on Sony VAIOs (they have some of
the most astecically (sp) pleasing cases and designs, IMO).
I'm really surprised at what you can get for $500 these
days... I love building my own, but it's up to you, muh man
:D

btw, Fry's had a fucking AMAZING deal on a VAIO laptop the
other week.... 2.8 GHz monster loaded down for
$1,300...wasn't a refurb either. I know.. you need a PC ..
and happy hunting...

stay away from the big companies, ie dell, compaq, gateway
etc. they all put propritetary shit that only ends up
slowing your computer down. if you really want to not build
your own comp, check out these: alienware, hypersonic,
voodoo. also, finding reviews online and in mags of the
comps ur looking at is a good idea.

The moniter is extra of course. By the way, I heard

for info on that.

Yeah, Caveat Emptor. BUT just going on what you "hear" and
what other people say is kinda not the thing to do. Figure
that stuff out for yourself / on your own. Ya know what I
mean? Sites like that are for people who have nothing better
to do with their time than nit pick every single detail and
blow things up WAY out of proportion. You want legit
complaints? www.bbb.org

Not the best thing to do, at least. And yeah,
http://www.resellerratings.com/ looks good too. Just what I
know.
