In my opinion it has to be Hyakusen...poor fool never gets
a mention :D

Incidentally, who's that bird stroking her boobs in your

my mum.

I have hyakusens stuff shared on soulseek...I dunno any
links to his stuff on the net unfortunately.

Your mum's hot. I want to poke her.

Too bad. I've got a mac (hence no soulseek).

Well, as far as I can tell from a 60x80 72dpi 2 colour gif.

Points: 520 Status: Lurker

Don't worry isnieZot. These guys don't pay much attention to
my tracks either, except ecnadniarb and promo really (though
I'm not on here much). And it doesn't matter anyway.
Messageboards don't make you a good musician, it's just
interesting to know what people think of your stuff.

Or it could be that your stuff's shit? I dunno.

Xanpha (AKA Teapot) I probably listen to his stuff more than
anyone else's from here.

Nah I reckon Teapot gets a lot of respect.

isnieZot I quite like your stuff, but hyakusens is NEVER
mentioned, even by himself.

Actually, very few people get props for their music on this
board.

To be fair a lot of what is posted is shite.

offline ecnadniarb on 2003-12-21 06:12 [#01000431]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

But there have been occassions in the past where I have been
away for a few days come back and there is a spam by one of
the more popular posters on the board and everyone has
written how good the track is. So I listen as normal and I
really can't see what everyone is finding so good about it.
Some people are just too nice or whatever to be honest.

Amen. Even I have to agree that I've posted utter bollocks
on here. And I have no idea why!

Yes, I often wonder if people are being nice about my tracks
because I'm a mod. :-/

Still, when people ecnadniarb and archrival who are usually
very honest give praise it is particualrly nice.

offline Drunken Mastah from OPPERKLASSESVIN!!! (Norway) on 2003-12-21 06:37 [#01000448]

you'll never know.

at least I'm honest, but I don't think I've heard any of
oyur tracks. where are they?

hehe...but I have my own taste just like everyone else on
the board, so me not liking a track isn't necessarily down
to it being a bad track. Mind you if I don't like the style
of a track i will normally say and try to comment on sounds
and techniques within the track instead.

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2003-12-21 06:42 [#01000453]

Yes- I usually start comments about genres I don't like with
"I don't like minimal glitch" or "Nois isn't my thing" and
then comment on the techniques/sounds.

Drunken Master:
Well, people commenting anonymously on wire.fm is a good
form of feedback :)

Tracks available here.

I recommend Siberia and Silo.

When it's a form of music I don't like, I can't say anything
to make it better, as it sounds like shit to me anyway..
therefore, I just don' comment on tracks that are outside my
area of expertise.

i'll check your tracks, but it might take som time.. i'm on
a 56k right now, and this particular computer seems to have
lost its ability to play mp3's.. i can't make sound come
from mp3's.

Tell me about wire.fm... I assume no weird hidden contract
stuff, like they assume copyrights for publishing the music
you put up there?

I'm thinking about putting my stuff up there

offline Sanguine from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-12-21 06:53 [#01000457]

Focus: There are a lot of underrated artists on here, but
then again, most of the work required by an artist is
promotion of your material.

Just having good stuff doesn't mean you'll be successful,
you need to worry about the business aspect. That's why Paul
Van Dyke and Paul Oakenfeld are doing so well, they knew the
business side of things first and made things the public
wanted to hear... that's key.

I haven't been blown away by any music on the board yet, but
I have only listened to recent stuff, and just about every
track that's been put up in the last few months, even if I
didn't review it. So I can't really name anybody who I think
is totally underrated yet... there are people who deserve
some recognition, definitly, but what can I say.

That being said, if anybody wants a review, I'm always up
for giving my honest opinions, as anybody here who's gotten
a review from me can attest to. Email me at
chect@hotmail.com or just lemme know on the board

Earthleakage is the most underrated musician on the board.

Ceri: I've checked Siberia (Altai Mix), and I'm downloading
the dunes now.

Siberia was good, but the whole time, through the song, I
was wondering about the rythm.. the melody itself seemed to
be more of a shifting beat, while the drums were 8/8.

As I'm listening to this on PolkAudio small shitty
pc-speakers, I wouldn't know, but am I right there was no
bassline? Also (again under the circumstances) I didn't
notice if you had been panning stuff. It's a good idea to
try and use the entire stereo spectre (from the songs on
that site, it may seem I preach the word, but doesn't live
it.. but that's older stuff... from before i started reading
lots and lots of musical theory)

Other than that, I liked the instruments and the drums
(especially when they changed to the more prominent drum..
i've been doing that a lot on my own stuff lately.. i've
discovered that some of the drumtracks I make can be on at
the same time, panned out to 100% L and R. Makes a cool
effect).

All in all, it will be on my playlist(for whatever that's
worth to you..).

And there, the Dunes was down.

Again, I like the drums! But again, it seems to me that
there's some structural collapse (shifting melody beat and
steady drum beat). Maybe a little less attack on the main
instrument at certain places in the song? It sounds kind of
"slow" even though it isn't and that makes it sort of
"off-beat."

I'm downloading Silo now.

I don't think people would say that......if I thought your
music was crap I'd tell you. I couldn't care whether you are
a moderator or not. And if you are the kind of moderator who
would temp ban someone for not liking it, then you don't
deserve to be a moderator, and I'm sure Phob would rectify
that matter. I certainly wouldn't care whether anyone on
this board was a mod or not. The mods are hear to make sure
people don't spam this place to hell - no other reason :)

No he's not...because he doesn't let anyone either

a) listen to his stuff
b) tell me whether he has had any proper releases

so you can't underrate someone who you have never been able
to rate in the first place.

Everytime I ask him as well he goes all mysterious on my
like he is a relative of Mystic Meg or something. :P

Apart from when I caught him drunk one night and he riddled
me silly with a track, I still don't get the story behind
that either :D

That's why I said it, Lee ! If we keep saying he's a great
musician, people MIGHT get aroused enough to bug him into
letting us hear more of his stuff, and to let the hoi polloi
of XLT listen to ANY of his stuff!

and he allways lets people know about his stuff!

Well for one, you are posting on a public messageboard, and
two, I wonder why you were so concerned about people
listening to Earthleakages stuff.

Does that answer your question?

Not at all - just because this is a public board, doesn't
mean everything has anything to do with you. And person X
talking to person Y about person Z is an instance of this.
