He´s surely not makin Jazzkore. Just listen and feel it. Rich is an genius in my eyes. His music is very emotional to me. Even if it´s hard twisted drum rollin, slowbeating or in the end ambient. He created some awesome pieces and never disapointed me even if I didn`t realized it on first listening. Some trax takes you longer to get behind. I like his variety. Also his extravagant sounds which no one else got and his beautiful string compositions. You can´t define his style really. He´s makin Richard D. James music and there is nothing more to say about it. Rich is one of the most interesting artists that I know and like me he is allways searching for ....................................................... ( make up your own fellas ) |

Aint jazz a lot more confined than RdJ ?? If anything like RDJ is jazz it'd be []< ? But then I guess RDJ = Tom Jenkinson, soooo. . ? Would associate the word jazzcore more with Amon Tobin ? |

jazz is total freedom... improvisation... RDJ's music is definately not that... it's good, but it ain't jazz... |

yeah, just listen to A Kind of Blue, Bitches Brew, or A Love Supreme, each a top jazz album, and they are nothing like RDJ's music... I mean, all those albums are pure improvisation, whereas RDJ makes music, excellent music, but it is not improvisational, which in my opinion is the main characteristic of Jazz... good jazz anyways... |

yah .. improvisation - i guess is a thing, slightly difficult for artists like AFX to do to the extent of live stuff esp. Jazz. I was more thinking that like there is the whole "jazz piano" thing, which seems quite sort of um. i don't know . I guess Jazz is pretty damn free - but i mean, like .. i don't know what i mean anymore .. |
