i love hr giger! his airbrushing is so amazing. he is one
and only. i love the organic/alien/technological art he
makes! my favorite is the all the babies, whatever its
called... just a glimpse in the near near future.

Ceri JC on 2001-12-03 11:02 [#00057714]

I just bought my dad a Giger book for christmas. I'm going
to have to put something on the label like "I know it's not
very christmasy..."

He's into art like that, especially john bratby (really fuct
surrealist guy with a penchant for taps). He just bought 2
originals, they're nuts.

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-03 11:04 [#00057716]

giger would make a fanatastic christmas gift seeing as he
would enjoy it, its the thought that counts not the item and
the fact its probably not wierd to him. i'm sure he'd like
that for christmas rather than socks and underwear.

I was influenced by Giger's "Navigator" from the film Alien,
when designing a vehicle for Warhammer 40,000 (table top
wargame). I built the pilot actually into the vehicle with
pipes going into his head etc. It's going to be cool once
I've painted it up.

I was always interested in those pen and paper rpgs but none
of my friends are smart enough. The best I could get out of
them was a game of Magic the Gathering, which I kicked their
asses in.

I play a (sadly now defunct) card game called doomtown,
based on the paper-rpg of the same name. It's quite complex,
but great fun. You basically get more money for characters
and buildings from you buildings (like monopoly) and fight
your opponents by playing poker against them!

Warhammer 40,000 is a wargame with actual figurines of men &
vehicles, set in the year 40,000. It's really good, if a
little expensive. It's quite easy to find opponents for that
all over the world.

The vehicle I'm working on is one of these

converted.

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-03 12:03 [#00057736]

i've heard of warhammer. that vehicle is sweet.
i recently moved to a new town and have no friends and its a
small town so there would be no one here even with those
kind of interests.

Where exactly is medicine hat? ;-)

I'm trying to get one of my housemates into it as it's a
pain transporting them for games at clubs/ other people's
houses.

Mutant Death Pengwin from Cranbrook, BC on 2001-12-03 12:19 [#00057739]

Medicine Hat is in Southern Alberta, 3 hours south of
Calgary and 2 hours north of Lethbridge. Medicine Hat has
the population of nearly 100 000 and is a great city. From
Late April to Late October it was 30+ Celcius this year.
Its always hot there. Winters are mild with little snow. I
love that city, probably more than what you wanted to know,
but what the hell.
I actually moved to Cranbrook (small lumber town of about 30
000) last week.

Ceri JC on 2001-12-03 12:46 [#00057741]

Whoa, I thought medicine hat was one of those "amusing"
locations people put down! I didn't realise it was a real
place. No offence intended :)

Ceri JC on 2001-12-03 12:48 [#00057742]

BTW, did you get your net name from the old amiga/snes game
"Mutant Penguins"? It's an overhead/isometric shoot 'em up
if I recall.

Netlon Sentinel from yurp on 2001-12-03 13:51 [#00057746]

hehe... giger as a christmas present. i'm sure he never
meant it that way :)

warhammer 40k is really cool, but i only really like the art
that the magazines had, really impressive!!

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-12-03 14:57 [#00057755]

no offence taken, i don't blame you. its a stupid name for
a city.
in the slave pit funnies in the gwar cd ragnarok there is a
story about mutant death penguins attacking brazil. long
story made short. there is a long story behind the name,
but i don't feel like typing it all.
