That Bo Selecta thing is truly dreadful. The video just
doesn't work, the ideas are there but they just didn't pull
it off. I think its very much a case of stick to the day job
for old Avid. Lol.

It's either going to be The Darkness or Gary Jules. The
Darkness is outselling the Pop Idol2 by almost 3:1 with Gary
Jules close behind.

I have no idea who Gary Jules is and I have never heard the
song.

As for Avid Merrion, well, he's nowhere. Mainly because most
11 year-old girls have never heard of him.

it's funny that most people looking for the Mad World song
are asking for the new REM single.

the song worked well in the movie, but it hardly deserves
the praise. it's a sub-par coverversion done in a faux REM
style.

I agree it's not as good as the original but I think it's
really good, it deserves to be number one in my self serving
opinion.

also did you know....

Tears for Fears met while they were both in care (looked
after by the authorities) 'Tears for Fears' was the name of
the project they were in, all their lyrics are about
this...

they met at school through a mutual friend. the name tears
for fears comes from arthur janovs 'prisoners of pain' which
was a big influence of roland, based on the primal scream
therapy. the idea of the first album "the hurting" of which
all the tracks are about this was something they wanted to
do for sometime based on their childhood fears. previously
they had been is a ska influenced band called graduate and
released 1 album. mad world was their 3rd single (the other
2 had flopped), it got picked up slowly by the radio and
eventually got to no. 3 around xmas time in 1982 which
really put them on the map.

Tears for Fears met on the set of Cheggers plays pop in the
summer of '78. Through their love of all things weepy and
hammer house of horror films they decided to start a band
which we all know now as 'Tears for Fears'.
