everything here is classic arovane, except for track 3, which is a bit bland...which kind of sounds like a boring tech-house builder...

Excellent slab of wax going back a few years. I used to spin this one live consistently back in the day. "Plnt" is such a great track, a sure highlight on this record. What ever happened to FFWD?

isn't arovane just another autechre ripoff?

Ahhh, I'm sick of all this rubbish of how AE is top-tier and tons of people emulate their sound.

i dont think they're top tier, i just think they're more widely known than many others and have done a good job at pioneering their sound and others are playing emulating.

arovane and ae are not the same: arovane ambientscapes mutate slowly, sliding from note to note
autechre ambientscapes jump from chord to chord to chord to chord...
i don't prefer one over the other... but there is a marked difference... believe me, i will not deny for a second that there is a fuckload of ae imitators, but arovane never has, nor ever will be one of them

chock it up to my lack of auditory input of arovane. i've heard a few tracks and the ones i heard reminded me of autechre. but i've heard the name tossed around and started to make an association/generalization.
where do i find out more about arovane?

I really don't get why people call arovane a rip off. what part of autechre did he rip off in the album Tides??
even atol scrap does not sound like autechre. it's more ambient-ish and less "randomness".

Tides is the one of the best ambient albums I know of. Ae and arovane are definitely of different ilk.
