Hi guys,

I have a video tape I recorded when I was like 7 or
something of a live gig Jean Michel-Jarre did in Paris, it
was all done on a big pyramid constructed in the middle of
the capital.

I was wondering does anyone know the name of the album(s)
that the tracks played in this gig feature on? I'm DESPERATE
for these tracks - I grew up listening to this stuff, and I
would really love to get them on CD.

If anyone could also suggest places I could get them from
(places that accept Switch/Maestro, or PayPal for payment)
I'd be very appreciative.

Thanks guys :)

something thats called something like "live in paris" or

live in paris lots of times.

well, it was around about 1989/1990/1991

around about that time. i can't check the video, because
it's very old, been played about a million times, and our
new VCR doesn't like to play it very often (our new VCR is a
pile of wank actually, but that's a different matter!)

I'll have to see if i can find something like Live in Paris
or something...a friend of mine told me it was an album
called Revolution, but I'm not sure of his reliability - I
need to be sure, as I don't know the names of the tracks he
played on this gig

if it was a 1990 gig it might have been the 'waiting for
cousteau' lp

Well, it seems that he played songs from many of his albums
at the concert. Personally, i would recommend Oxygene,
Zoo-look and Rendezvous as excellent albums

I think Jarre's music basically stinks, but Live in China
from....hmmmm 1982 is pretty decent....

my dad was always a massive jarre fan.
had all of his records.. so i know them all pretty well up
as far as the cousteau lp.. the kind of stuff that gets
implanted in your head as a child from just hearing it round
the house. i've sort of lost my objectivity about it all.
there are elements of tracks on nearly all the records which
are pretty cool.. but theres something about it doesnt quite
click for me.. theres always this feeling in my gut that, if
i was jarre & i'd had the idea for that particular
melody/sound, id have done the track differently/better.
some of the [twisted, dischordant, haunting] melodies (esp
on a track from revolutions lp which i cant remember now)
put me in mind of afx tracks like analogue bubblebath pt1 or
alberto balsalm. but jarre's stuff feels too lightweight to
me.. not enough backbone to the track - either as far as
rhythm, production or atmosphere is concerned.

by the way, im not comparing afx & jarre (as though one
affected the others output) - as far as im concerned, the
music actually has very little in common.

I think he can be great. His cheesy poppy moments are
annoying, sure, but like Vangelis and Tangerine Dream he's
done some of my favorite music ever. And imo, those 3's
classical routes really add to their albums.
