"I consider electronica to be the bleeding edge of
musical expression"

that rather sounds like overrating the situation..

polyphonic spree are happy. its just human nature for
everyone to hate them because of that.

the bassist for tripping daisy overdosed, they lost their
label, and a few year later a group of local musicians
started the polyphonic spree.

texas has an alright music scene if you go to austin,
dallas, el paso, houston, or san antonio... other than that,
its saturated with country, hip hop, or 'texas music'
(robert earl kean, pat green, cross canadian ragweed)

Saw them a couple of weeks back. Their live show puts most
bands to shame*

As long as you like having a good, happy, non-cynical time
and jump up and down a lot. :-)

just give in to the polyphonic spree. admit that you still
like balloons and ice cream. admit that you like to be
happy. cut off your genitals and join us. we are one. we are
the collective. we are the polyphonic spree.

here is your robe. here is your instrument of joy.

beating a dead horse, but...

i suppose i was mixing two different sorts of gimmick. one
of the frequent criticisms of idm is that it represents
excessive, gimmicky production (the conventions i referred
to). not quite the same sense as the suggestion that the
polyphonic spree as a group has a "gimmick."

in conclusion, polyphonic spree, hippies, robes, peace and
love are all good...

the american version of the album came with an attached
