my weird fractal song

...MwmW)m(WmwM... on 2001-11-30 21:25 [#00057173]

I have a new song up called "a fractal brewing of fraggles".
It has a structure of scaling symmetry.

oh yeah, i'm still working on my fractal based music, i am
trying to get a non-linear choas map worked to the equation
for a lindemaer tree but it just don't want to work for me.

Your songs are fucking WEIRD! :)

Quite cool - nice n different

Korben Dallas from = Salvador on 2001-12-01 02:15 [#00057241]

Ok .. a little more specific perhaps.

Really like the boiling type sound with the glitches n that
.. although I very much appreciate your style, maybe the
melody in the background could have I don't know ...? I
guess what I'm saying is, the song is very nice as is - but
it has potential to be exploited further - ie. exposing the
melody and aspects of it more clearly. But a very refreshing
listen.!

Poor pengwin, always having computer problems:), my computer
is quite glitchy too but it functions well enough (you're on
a different computer now right?) Maybe try someone else's
music to see if it's not just my page... that tree fractal
sounds interesting, are you using a specific software
program designed to create sound fractals? I read a little
bit about how those are done but for the most part didn't
understand.

I suppose weirdness is one of my objectives, so thanks.:)

I know what you mean by being able to exploit it further.
It's probably not finished actually, none of my songs
uploaded there are really. I know what general direction I
would take it but I'm more into making short experiments at
the moment to try different things I guess. I had the same
pattern when I used to draw too, I started with quantity and
progressed to quality.

If you liked this song even a teensy bit, I really suggest
Crunch's album "1" because it's way better (find at
www.forcedexposure.com)
This is gradually becoming my favorite album by anyone ever,
it depends on the individual song really though. It's
more... childlike than come 2 daddy almost. But in a
different way. The sound is shaped in more ways than is
possible for play dough even though the latter is 3
dimensional. In one song at the end the sound literally gets
up and drives away taking the doppler effect into perfect
account. The album is made with greens and purples and
yellows when compared with other albums of a single bland
color.

Humm interesting song you got there, must of took quite some
time, or maby just some long samples.
i enjoyed it, but I must say it takes time to get into.

...MwmW)m(WmwM... on 2001-12-01 06:58 [#00057293]

Both I guess. I constructed the detail then saved it AS a
long sample to make it easier to work with. Thanks. I almost
always like organized sound that is difficult to get into,
for some reason maybe the way the brain works, complex stuff
has extremely rewarding repeated listens, whereas you can
only listen to a depeche mode song a handful of times. One
recent album that had this effect was actually classical
music, called "the poet of the piano"- Frederic Chopin
(spelling) "1810-1849" is just amazing, as complex as
autechre almost even though it's made with a much more
primitive instrument than a computer.

wow i'm quite enjoying this artifical selection album. Dumb
question but did you do it all? Its very good! I would buy
if it was in a store!

asexual spore releasing hyper bloomer is great!

...MwmW)m(WmwM... on 2001-12-02 09:16 [#00057487]

It's interesting to think you'd consider it worthy of
purchase... thanks for the feedback. I havn't contacted any
labels or anything, but am probably not ready yet. I do
indeed make it all myself, sort of.. I didn't design the
software (modplug tracker) that allowed me to make it or
anything, a lot of the credit goes to that person I guess.
If I ever learn to make my own software I could put ideas
into effect way more easily instead of resorting to indirect
ways and weird tricks in order to do stuff. But then I could
say I didn't design the computer either, but I seriously
doubt I'd come up with a better tool in my lifespan and with
a single brain...erm, and I didn't work with anyone else on
them (except for rob fragilenine for that one song where I
mentioned so). Most people don't mention that song in
particular, but it's one of my favorites as it employs one
of my more interesting techniques in my opinion.

Truth be told, I can't really get into your fractal song...

I'm definately digging the asexual spore beatz though...

ross on 2001-12-03 07:18 [#00057656]

this is really interesting..id prolly buy something like
this

ross on 2001-12-03 07:21 [#00057657]

i totally love the sounds you use, like on asexual
spore..but if only there was a more apparent melody..like
even slightly

...MwmW)m(WmwM... on 2001-12-03 08:19 [#00057658]

Thanksum for the feedbackiz. Interesting stuff, people have
varying opinions on what sounds good to them individually
(obviously). The melody in asexual spore releasing hyper
bloomer was sort of an afterthought glued on without it in
mind in the original construction, the focus of that
experiment was the "beats". When I made that song actually I
didn't have very much melody know how, I don't think I even
owned a keyboard then. Most of my older songs were composed
of sounds all in mostly the same pitch. You shoulda heard my
ultra-crappy first song I uploaded "revenge of the happy
meal cows". It got the worst review out of about 50
different songs by different people in a message board at
mp3.com. I had no idea what I was doing and decided to start
off making a song based on time units of five since it was
unconventional. I got it all backwards and retarded, I'm
glad I erased it. My song "decomposition of fraggle" uses
the same beat technique as asexual spore but doesn't have
any melody so since you criticized the other for that you'd
probably like that one less.

My latest attempt at a scam on mp3.com was to make a station
and put all MY songs at the top. Then I selected about 10
artists who were in the top 40 of mp3.com and put them on
the BOTTOM of the station, just because they get a lot of
page hits and therefore many people would click on the
station seeing it in these popular artists station lists. I
called the station "<---this artists favorite music" so when
people clicked on it they would think my music was the
favorite music of the top 40 artist's whose page they were
on... it didn't work though because no one listens to it and
even though I clearly wrote "fame parasitism" at the bottom
of the station, people don't get it and actually ask to BE
on the station.
