djfony from www.disfony.com on 2001-11-30 08:41 [#00057005]

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 08:44 [#00057007]

Are you serious? My close friend loves him with all her
heart, and will be devastated.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 08:44 [#00057008]

I have to go search the net, my mind is all fucked up, I
can't believe it.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 08:46 [#00057010]

FUCKING TELL ME, IS HE DEAD, WHERE DID YOU HEAR THIS?!?

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-30 08:50 [#00057012]

a week or so... oh.... I heard it on the news this
morning.... nice man though

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 09:00 [#00057018]

I can't fucking believe it, I'm almost crying. The Beatles
are the greatest thing ever on earth, they deserve to be
immortal, and they will be. I'm sure he's up there with John
right now writing amazing songs that will last forever. One
of the most beautiful human beings that ever graced this
earth. I can't believe this.

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-30 09:02 [#00057020]

S'alright dude, we all die at some point. Most cases it
isn't a sad thing. He's been ill for ages. Bit of a release,
he's only human

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 09:09 [#00057023]

A Beatle NEVER dies, though.

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-30 09:11 [#00057024]

well... that strictly isn't true is it? They will live on
for thier music. Effectivly, for me; they all died. I cant
say I like any of Pauls music.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 09:29 [#00057026]

Paul isn't the Beatles. Solo albums are NOT the Beatles. And
they will be loved a million years from now, when all other
musicians are nothing.

Since when does a ''dead'' band dominate with an album 30
years after they broke up, and since when has a ''dead'' man
like John Lennon been considered the most important musician
ever to this day? He is, even more than Beethoven, Mozart,
Elvis, Miles Davis. And, yes, A BILLION TIMES as important
as RDJ. Dead my ass! His legacy grows, and every time some
little punk band picks up their little guitars, it's because
the Beatles broke all the barriers, whether or not the
stupid punks know or respect that, they will eventually, and
everytime RDJ makes a loop, or makes a backwards sound
effect, it's a direct descendant of THE BEATLES'
experiments, that noone else would or could do.

And 4 ''dead guys'' like the Beatles, plus today's
technology, they'd turn the world on its head like they did
in 63. Not just a group of fans, like IDMers or just the pop
crowd or the underground crowd, but EVERYONE, the whole
world, would pay attention. And I belive that when all 4
Beatles are ''dead'', they'll be back to show us what music
is all about, look out. I hope I'm still alive to see
that!!!!

Tis a shame, but what a life he had!

memory of the man.

I heard that this morning too. Sorry to tell you guys my
life story here but this has been the worst week EVER for
me. My gran died of cancer yesterday, my mom has cancer
again, my girlfriend has doubts about us, and now George
Harrison passes away... I think I should get SO wasted out
my mind tonight to get my thoughts off of the situation.
Still, at least I still got you people to talk to. :(

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-30 12:09 [#00057045]

declared that he had about 2 weeks left to live, a week ago,
when that post was made. Up yours.

Chrispy from the UK Plains of Noise on 2001-11-30 19:00 [#00057116]

If you're right... it was nice of you NOT to share the info
with us at the time.

evolume from at work in bothell, north of seattle, USA on 2001-11-30 19:05 [#00057118]

he's not dead

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 19:06 [#00057119]

djfony from www.disfony.com on 2001-11-30 19:13 [#00057122]

I refuse to be the bearer of bad news.

Just be glad you found out at all.

Blowphecks on 2001-11-30 19:43 [#00057135]

Ophecks has hid head up his arse.
Nothing Against George or the Beatles, but for chrisakes!
The Beatles were not the best thing since sliced bread and
they weren't any kind of immortal gods with mystical powers.
Cool if you like their music, me too, but jesus...they
didn't invent the wheel, and to say that no musician since
them could have amounted to shit without them is just
ignorance.

R.I.P. George

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 19:47 [#00057137]

Blowphecks, hehe. Normally I'd be annoyed, but that IS a
funny name...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-30 19:48 [#00057138]

I dunno... The Beatles changed rock and roll... for me, I
see a totally distinct difference between before the
Beatles, and after, with The Beatles directly in the
middle... they totally changed rock and roll, and they were
a brilliant band... think about it, they were the most
innovative, innfluential, and commercially successful bands
ever... innovation and commercial success hardly goes
together anymore, and yet the Beatles were #1 in each
category at the same time... didn't they have the whole top
5 songs on the charts one time? That's freaking amazing!!!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 19:51 [#00057141]

The thing that makes me love them is that they were
unbelieveably popular without compromising artistry, and had
little or no pretensions. They really didn't give a shit
what people thought. I'm sure even RDJ has pretensions, I
think he could make a great pop song, but won't because he's
afraid what his fans will think. ''THAT'S NOT COOL, MAN!''

I wish he'd try and take over the charts.

fuck these musicians on 2001-11-30 19:57 [#00057148]

I don't think that RDJ won't make a song that he's sure will
be a #1 pop song because he's afraid of what his fans will
think, I think he won't do it because why should he? That'd
be like going to the dark side. He's got plenty enough money
anyway.

Besides, he's probably already #1 hits producing for n'sync
and what not.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-30 19:59 [#00057150]

Why should he? Why not? It's not the dark side, he could
make serious in-roads for electronic music. Fuck
''underground'' shit, let it be heard by the masses.

I know that's not his style... but still...
if wasn't such an arsehole he could do it!

fuck these musicians on 2001-11-30 20:06 [#00057155]

Personally, and I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure
other people have to feel this way, I would hate to make
great music and become mainstream the way we all think of
pop music. For millions of idiots to dig my music would not
make me happy. Look at all the shite that is popular. I
would just be pissed off when I knew there were a ton of
morons who I hated who absolutely loved my music, who always
said that I was awesome or some such nonsense. I guess I
can't explain this as well as I had hoped but...I think
that's probably something to do with it. If Richard knew he
could do it, he would have probably ten times as many fans,
so what would it matter if the original fans didn't like it?
I'm sure we would all know it was a joke anyhow and love
Richard all the more for it. I don't know.

Fuck pop and pop culture. It sucks.

Only reason pop is popular is because of marketing and
empty-headed pre-teens.

spasticmatt from mp3.com/spasticmatt on 2001-11-30 20:15 [#00057157]

sadly,you are an ignorant shit

regardless of how popular the beatles are, they were great
composers and had great ideas for mainstream music..sadly
their ideas pretty much died with the first to go...they
were pop stars that deserved the fame...among few other
bands....god bless harrison..

fuck these musicians on 2001-11-30 20:18 [#00057159]

Sadly, you are a piece of my ignorant shit...

I never knocked the Beatles...

Fuck off.

ok i had to go and put george back into his box. you can
come over tomorrow to poke him with the stick. he has to
rest up now.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-30 20:44 [#00057168]

well one thing about mainstream music I'll say... U2, I love
the band... their new album I liked when I first bought it,
I thought the songs were pretty good... (not as good as
their previous stuff mind you)... but it seems like just
about every song has been worn out on the radio, all the
songs I liked at first anyways, and now I can't listen to
the album at all... It's nice that Aphex Twin, and BOC and
stuff aren't played on the radio, because we can enjoy the
music when we want to...
