got the brothers quay dvd today in the mail, thanks to
everyone for suggesting it, because its darn-near the
awesoemest thing ive EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!

in particular, i love the 2 videos for this group 'his name
is alive'.

never heard of them before... but "are we still married?" is
one of the most gorgeous things ive ever seen/heard.

sorta reminds me a little of badalamenti's work.

"are we still married? are we still?
i'm kinda getting shot at, i'm kinda gettin hurt.
i'm tired of all the blood, i'm tired of gettin hurt."

i HIGHLY recommend this to ANYOBE who is a fan of stop
animation, surreal film, or anything fairytale-esque.

it is worth every penny you'll pay for it, and probably
more.

I must get that dvd! Do you have any details about it? I
love His Name is Alive. They are a classic 4AD band and I
can highly recommend the album Mouth by Mouth where the
other track on the your DVD must have been taken
from..."can't go wrong without you"...am I right?!?

Some rather old His name is alive-info

His Name Is Alive were cool. So cool that i've even liked
one their new song, in R&B, by inertion.

Not very fond of Brothers Quay works. Institute Benjamenta
is kind of my favorite.

I saw a personalised number plate the other day that said,
"TIBBOR" and I thought of our dearly departed friend...

They could have given one of these to the purple Gallardo
with "LAMBO VIII" as the numberplate I saw last week.

My biggest peeve with numberplates is the rank hypocrisy of
the DVLA in selling personalised plates, then penalising
people for minor "alterations" using coloured screw to make
'9' look like 'y' and similar things. Why not just sell
(auction) the plates with all letters that people want, so
long as they are unique, identification doesn't suffer, if
anything it becomes simpler. The money raised by this tax on
egotists could be used to subsidise more mundane motoring
costs such as first registration of new vehicles, Q plate
inspections, etc.

I've never seen the appeal of small/custom plates. It draws
uneccessary police attention. I have friends who have
1.5"*6" numberplates you can't read from 3 meters away,
never mind from a pursuing police car. Okay, legally this is
failure to display a numberplate (as opposed to potentially
'attempting to pervert the course of justice' for having no
plate at all), but 9 out of 10 traffic cops turn a blind eye
to marginally smaller plates, but almosot without exception
they will bust you for ones this small.

One thing I do like though are the ones with very small
witty comments printed across the bottom, best I've seen
was, "You just got whupped by a girlie!" on a girl's bike.
As well as the usual, "If speed kills, you're looking at a
dead man", etc.

For one beautiful shining moment when the sun rose in my
heart and my whole world sang, I thought he was back. Don't
do this to me, internet.
