Why not follow these simple rules? (feel free to add more)

1. No more than one track a day. I mean i have seen
individuals in the past that come here everyday and have
intentions of sharing their entire archieve.

Sharing music you make isn't that bad of an idea. I love it
when people share although i rarely comment. But it becomes
overwhelming and a bit tedious when you get bombarded
everyday by one guy.

2. Perhaps if you have this many tracks you are creating
music too quickly. Yes with the software out there and
plugins virtually anyone can create a song let alone an
album in a day.

Great tracks aren't made that quickly. To actually produce
something great it is going to take alot of time and work.
But the payoff is that you will get more indepth feedback on
that track you slaved on.

perhaps you should just let people get in the practice, and
enjoy getting feedback from their peers while theyre at it.

most of these people have acknowledged they are "in
practice" right now, and not necessarily trying to get
signed as of yet.

this is a time for alot of musicians on here much akin to
college for a business major.

If you're targeting me then be frank. All tracks that posted
on here I've created ages ago and have spent days on if not
sometimes a week or weeks.

As it happens people post their tracks to either get praise
or criticism. They're not really interesting in no views
because they might as well not post it in the first place.

A point that i should have made clearer is that alot of
threads tend to get ignored.

Promo is one i am going to use as an example. His "first
track ever" thread got loads more feedback than his fourth
one (which i am having problems with because virgins
computer is ghetto).

Maybe if these were spaced out feedback would have came back
more even.

Not trying to pick on any artists here but i thought that
they would be good rules of thumb. This thread is supposed
to be helpful to those artists that have a lot produced and
some tracks go unheard.

Not to pick on you promo but you came to mind because Virgin
had me listen to these! :) Good work mate!

Tips on getting people to listen to your music:

Listen to theirs and comment. Give constructive criticism-
don't just praise everything they do.

Don't post new tracks all the time- only put your best stuff

up or tracks which you genuinely want advice on.

Talk to people on the board and discuss other releases- if
they know you, they'll be more inclined to listen.

Don't get shitty (not saying you have!) when people don't
listen to it. If people stamp their foot and get genuinely
arsey about people not listening to a track I won't download

it on principle. Same goes for people who bump their track
many times in a comparatively short timespace.

Take criticism (even if it's worded unkindly) with good
humour- if your thread turns into a flame war other people
will be scared to comment.

Be patient- if you (fairly) consistantly make good music
available, people will want to download all your new tracks.

It takes time for people to get to know your music... I
didn't hear any of pennyworth's stuff till comparatively
recently.

If no one is replying, check how many users are on, if there

are lots and your stuff is generally well recieved, they may

just be following the proverb, "if you haven't got anything

nice to say, don't say anything at all." If a track is truly

awful and there is nothing salvageable about it, I usually
won't post about it.

tibbar,

I create my tracks purely for pleasure, I have no intention
or interest other than that. Of course it is very
pleasurable playing your tracks to others and 'getting'
their views.

i was talking about you.

i was speaking on behalf of myself and others.

if you didnt enjoy making music you wouldnt do it, so thats
a given.

but im saying... alot of people are just trying to develop
their talent: find their strengths and weakenesses, find
their own voice with thinigs, try things they REALLY want to
try out.

people should do what they like, it's a FREE MB and if they
wanna post 10 tracks a day it's up to them.

i'm sure they realize that if they post a lot of tracks
daily or whatnot most people will stop clicking.

MOST of us are adults here, and until Phobiazero says one
track per day, people should do what they like.

I meant this post to be beneficial to everyone. Artists and

take a turn for the worse.

Bear in mind that i had the best of intentions though!

Yeah I agree with LeCoeur. I guess my track was a pile of
shit or something thats why no one has responded.

My first thread got mixed responses, the second thread the
responses indicated that the first track was better and the
third thread was pretty glowing all round. No one has
responsed on my fourth yet so I guess thats that.

Yes- just to clarify all my suggestions were just that- not
rules!

If you follow them more people will listen to your stuff, if
you don't, don't complain when you only get one or two
responses per track :)

Although, on the subject of 10 tracks a day (not directed at
promo), it'd probably be best to put all them in one
thread...

On a personal note, one of my best tracks was done as the
third in one day. I just made a point of ULing them over a
period of days :)

Yeah meng it's a big sweet n' eleet social ladder here in
the first place.
Who would of thought that spending 100-200 hours on a song
could all be avoided just by kissing the right nerds ass.

In the end I will download most peoples tracks because they
worked hard on them. If your not into that good for you
meng.

To me there is nothing cooler then following an artist over
time and watching their tracks grow and get better and
better.

DSL and 56k do play a huge roll in this. I'd hate to take 40
minutes of someones time on one mp3.

There's a big difference between people kissing ass here to
get people to listen to their track and the common courtesy
of at least interacting with other people. Unless you're
damned good (and so far, no one who has done this has been
IMO), coming here just to spam your tracks is a bit lame...
you can sign up to 100 electronic boards and post links to
all your tracks on each one, but should people listen?

Well I think that can be part of the problem. Sometimes
people just don't know whether they are good or not. They
don't have a decent barometer thats why they asked people on
the board I reckon. I only getting fairly biased opinion
often from close friends/family whatever and although I
believe they're being frank; you come on to this board and
get most of the time unbiased opinion.

unfortunately i think "guidelines" for members with bad
habits are mostly useless; it's like telling someone with no
manners to "show some manners."

however, if you genuinely want feedback about your tracks,
sharing fewer tracks will probably mean more listens per
track.

some people post too many tracks, some people are too
hesitant to let people hear their tunes.

i suppose i'd rather sift through a group of "listen to my
track" threads than read about what somebody likes to eat
for breakfast, or any of the other mundane topics.

just my opinion...

this is why im here in the first place:
(1) friends and (2) my and/or their music.

other than that, it only takes on post in one thread to tell
me what the new ae album title and date are.

so what else is there?

why don't we discuss how much we love and/or hate confield
for the 9,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999th time?

because there's more going on with individual members and
THEIR art to talk about than there is with rdj or ae.

the physics of art and music... the mechanics, the soul of
the art.

those who create understand the creations of others.

those who share creation are true friends.

like i would make "earvalve december 2003" a thread and just

it'd be alot easier to track my favorite artists too.
