teebee, polar , klute , juju , calibre ,
all from "ram trilogy" , some of the Metalheadz, and some
from Certificate 18

but mostly teebee - god of darkside
try to find " Through the eyes of a scorpion" or
"blacksciencelabs"
veery dark and veery good

blacksciencelabs is execllent, i own it. dark, futuristic,
very photek inspired. but i must admit, i rarely put it
under the lazer. i don't know why actually, maybe because of
the big amount of details he puts into the songs. maybe i'm
just weird

straight-forward.

Are you sure it is drum and bass you want then if Dillinja
isn't hard enough for you? Tracks like Armoured D are as
dark and agressive as D'n'B gets.

I was always a sucker for the reversed bass line, like the
early Back to Basics stuff (Dead Dred etc.) Also the older
Ragga stuff, most of which sadly is impossible to come by
any more.

i'll check armoured d...but what i've heard from dilinja it
all sounds too melodic...there are some good tunes but too
sweet for my taste...
i'll download more tho

He went shit (IMO)...his early work was brilliant though.
Also check out the Kemet Crew CD - Champion Jungle Sound
(released the same week as ICBYD I think :D) That had some
very very very good tracks on it...if you can't find it
anywhere I will rip the CD for you.

Also Industry by Dom & Roland, some brutal tracks on
that...and the must have of must haves the Torque album from
No U-Turn (Nico, Ed Rush, Trace).

I pretty much love the album from beginning to end...it has
so much atmosphere about it and yet it hardly ever gets
mentioned anywhere. I personally think it is the best pure
drum and bass album there has ever been.

yeah get torque, the NUT (no-u-turn)album, that is great,
also dom n roland, get: Dynamo / Adrenalin, and also get
Pneumatix (sledgehammer) by dom n roland vs calyx and
finally, as played by afx at atp: soundwall VIP, imo the
best dom n roland song, simply because the 1st half is no
drums or melody, just sfx and synth sweeps, etc then the
drums kick in. perfect for mixing. tune! As you can tell, I
rate Dom highly, also edrush and optical and trace, but dom
is heavier i think. the last 2 dom songs are the heaviest,
but get all of them:)

I also really like dom, his newer stuff is definitely a lot
more floor oriented than his old paddy/bassy amen stuff
I like the old stuff for listening value, the new stuff has
a lot more floor value
i'd also recommend panacea if youre into the harder side of
things
although his style is sort of lo fi, its got that dirty fast
drum bass type of drum and bass bizznizz BOH

Low Profile Darkness by Panacea was pretty good, but it
sounded a bit, I dunno, trying to be nasty rather than just
being nasty. It was in a similar flavour to the No U Turn
stuff (he even thanks them in the shout out list on the CD)
but I just don't think he managed to emulate the grittyness
they got.

i only have german engineering, underground superstardom and
murder sound (with dj scud)...the first two are alright,
perhaps just a little too cheesey...

good to see no-u-turn and panacea get mentioned in this
thread,

panacea somehow came out with a cheesy sounding record after
"low profile darkness". I don't know how the fuck they did
that. Low Profile Darkness was a great album with an
incredible track "reality-rmx" on it. If you haven't heard
it then I strongly recommend it.
As for NUT's torque album, it pretty muched defined what
tech-step was to me, a fucking insane album that one!

EIB?? surely you mean bad company or
)3|BC or sometimes )EIB( ......this isnt the most hardcore
stuff, its rollers, rather than techstep/darkstep or amen,
its okish, but stuff like ray keith has deeper basslines,
but i wouldnt really put bad company up there with NUT and
panacea. again, the same for grooverider, although there
have been some excellent releases on his prototype label,
but generally his output is average, its the sort of thing
rude bwoys in their souped up novas would listen to.

I fucking hated Wormhole...after the quality of the 12's
they were releasing at the time Wormhole was a big
disappointment for me. Then they went from bad to worse
with the follow up album...
