its just a game. Its nowhere near as good as people say. Its cool, but it relies on gore to carry the entire game. Fun for a while. Its pretty damn easy too, im playing it on hardest setting and im on the second to last level in less than 5 days.

I don't think it 'relies' on the gore, The whole tenchu feel to the game really makes me love it. Most people say it's shit because of the reasons you've stated, which in all fairness are valid for most games like this... But the gritty feel and the AI really sets them apart! (I also don't know why people compare it so closely to GTA3....?)
I love playing the hunters, fucking them up with my mind games.
I'll keep playing this after I complete it.

im not saying its shit, i like it, i just think its a bit too samey. You have to do the same thing for EVERY level, just on occasion with a different weapon. Although nothing beats taking a policemans head off with a hatchet then beating his partner to death with his baton

good.... :)
Games are becoming too simple tho. You're right in that respect. Games are being made like music is now. All about the money.
Get the eye candy, realism and primise in and it will sell. The Girls Aloud of Games if you will
Manhunt tho, has a different feel IMO. I don't buy many games... the ones I get are keepers.

it's not that great, actually.. it really is too 'samey' as someone put it earlier in this thread. it's incredibly dark and it's shockingly violent. moreso than any game relased so far (ie heads don't just come off, they give gradually as your player hacks through the windpipe and the rest of the neck) but that can't carry an entire game. it is a rockstar north game and it has all the great, hilarious dialouge, quips of the characters in the game. I wouldn't say it's worth buying, esp. if you've played metal gear 2 or any of the tenchu games. pushing the 'gruesome' envelope is a great thing in terms of realism and free speech among other things, but for stealth-based games an increase in the blood and the increased importance of sound inthis game would really help push this particular genre. it has a few good things to offer, but I don't think it's good enough to buy unless you've tried it out and you're really into it. having the rephlex remixes in the actual game might've helped and might've actually made more sense than to have it be released as a standalone promo album.

as i've said before, games relying on shock factor should be phased out because they're not innovative or entertaining. its one thing for a game to be violent and fun, its another for it to be over the top violent and gimmicky, which, after playing this, is what i've found it to be. much like GTA: vice city, which gets boring after half an hour.

well, i'm exaggerating quite a bit with half an hour. but real gameplay is sparse in that game, in terms of variety. it was fun for about two weeks and then it got old real fast.

my biggest problem with these games is that they spawn dozens of shitty imitators that flood the market and completely roll over the great games coming out.

I enjoy Manhunt. I love showing it to people.
We need more games like Animal Crossing here in the UK but the publishers don't see that.

Man... They should've made Manhunt iLink compatable. It'd be such a great Hide N Seek Deathmatch video game!!!
making it so you can't see them at all when they're in shadow would be so cool!

Great game, I just bought it an hour and a half ago, and I'm enjoying it. It's a bit simple and derivative, but I love the atmosphere. It's a bit of a marketing ploy, the whole ''sickest shit ever'' spin, but it's pulled off WELL and it's intense. I wish the controls were less Syphon Filter and more Splinter Cell, though.

Thanks. If it wasn't Manhunt that set this sick little fuck off, it would have been something else. For anybody that was around before Pong, tell me about the peaceful Utopia you guys had.
I actually saw a mother buy a copy of Manhunt for her son a few months ago, he couldn't have been more than 13. It states on the box that the game is absurdly violent and not meant for anyone under 18. Maybe the mother should have, you know, been a bit more responsible.
