When I am dead...

borix on 2001-11-29 15:28 [#00056778]

... Nanou2 will be the last song on my funeral. Man
everybody is gonna cry thier eyes out. It breaks my heart
every time I hear it but I love that song!

I decided when I was younger that I wanted street spirit by
radiohead played at my funeral, but now I think I'd have
something by RDJ.

At my nan's funeral they played a very good version (not the
w. orbit remix) of Barber's adagio for strings as her coffin
went down. It was a sad piece, but with an healthy dos of
optimism and new life in it. I'm still not sure what, but
I'd like something like that, it's sad and everything, but
reminds people that life goes on and that they should
remember happy times with me, not mope. That's why I chose
street spirit, the end line "Immerse your soul in love".

I can't think of any RDJ tracks like that, the sad ones seem
to be sad, and the happy ones are happy. I think the nearest
is the RDJ album version of Girl/Boy Song. It has sad
strings underneath it, but the beats are so uplifting.

Did you hear about that japanese conceptual artist that had
her RDJ collection buried wuth her when she died because she
found the music so touching?

What else would other people hav eplayed at their funeral?

Oh by the way borix, do you have a terminal illness? Are you
planning it for that reason or are you just morbid?

Ceri JC from Wales on 2001-11-29 15:38 [#00056782]

That abov epost is a joke, I should have put a :-) in. I
didn't mean to sound scolding!

BTW if you do have a terminal illenss, ignore this post ;-)

fuck that

i would like to have the fastest tunes played at my funeral

most of the people i know dont like them

agga a do - push pinapple shake a tree will also be
involved

how many songs is one allowed, i might do a littl karaoke
rendition also

borix on 2001-11-29 16:19 [#00056800]

No worries. I don't have any illness and yes I am a bit
morbid. Death is just one of those things I like to think
about. Not in a depressed way but just as a fact in life (in
my opinion the only real fact in life, rest is just relative
to everything else but in the end you know you die).

Btw. I think it is 'normal' to play about 3 songs on a
funaral. I thought about it (long time ago just for fun) and
chose Street Spirit (fucking beautifull song) and Soldiers
things - Tom Waits. But things have changed when I started
listening more to AT. These songs will only be importained
when/if I get an illness. If I die suddenly -> who cares
what gets played, I will be dead.

I did consider recording a CD of songs with me talking about
my life inbetween in case of sudden death, but I thought it
would upset my family too much.

Just listening to Parallel Stripes... it would be played at
my funeral. No question.

Ceri JC on 2001-12-03 11:20 [#00057722]

I'm suprised more people haven't replied to this topic, it's
a good idea. My girlfrien want's "The circle" acoustic
version by Ocean Colour Scene. I think I should add a clause
to our wishes that if we die at the same time (car crash,
suicide pact etc.) That the songs should be played over each
other. That would be cool.

What about Kesson Dalef ??? -

I think I would play my own music / get it played at my
funeral. Like un released stuff - deeply personal music,
that hopefully in a way mirrors my personality - and so
doesn't necessarily have to be sad (invariably will be to
some degree), but more like a memory of me ???
