offline uzim on 2003-12-06 08:32 [#00979547]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

what are the album(s) that particulary "stuck" you this
week?

for me... last week was a tie between Underworld - 1992
2002
and Bernhard Günter - Un Peu De Neige
Salie
, and for this week, Prodigy - The Fat Of The
Land
and Melt Banana - Cell Scape.

well the lying in states and love of everything albums are
not out yet - they are not out until january, but i got some
advance copies for review purposes on muisc.org

Lying in States - post-alt-rock somewhat in the vein of
early Radiohead but a bit rougher, from Chicago. Avant-garde
quality indie rock - learn more HERE.

The Love of Everything - minimal yet beautiful songs of
heartbreak by a two-man band that makes indie pop with
artistic eccentricities in production. Learn more
HERE.

dDamage is also from France, they have quite a few albums
out, and are about to release an album on Planet-Mu in
January. (i interviewed them on MUISc btw.) You can
learn about them HERE.

And the Active Suspension vs. Clapping Music comp is just a
quality release of great electronic/IDM and avant garde
musics. Good stuff. Learn more HERE.

Gwely--nice choice with Type O Negative! :) However, October
Rust is my favorite.

"Under the Pink" (Tori Amos) has been mine all week. Its a
very wintery album, and its so cold right now :| Theres
nothing like belting out Pretty Good Year when driving in
the car trying to go fast enough to heat up the engine so
the heat will work.

David Kristian - I gotta check that out. I saw him open for
Musiq and Venetian Snares... he's amazing. As far as I can
tell he doesn't use any PC/Apple at all...just a collection
of tiny machines.

Hey it's Frank Bretschneider! I got some of his stuff (rand,
curve, balance (with taylor deupree)) off EMusic. The sample
on that page sounds warmer and more accessible than the
stuff under his own name.

oh and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band which i'm now
listening to now on repeat, quite possibly THE best album of

Ophecks, do you think I should get the Beatles anthology on

footage? What does it mostly consist of?

I don't think Pepper is the best, but it might be my
favorite, it's too much fun. Just overanalyzed. People
overhyped it and now they overcriticize it. Everyone's a
critic.

Yeah, definitely get the Anthology. It's videos, song
performances, concerts (a lot of the Shea Stadium and
Budokahn shows, some Hollywood Bowl), interviews (remaining
Beatles telling stories and young Beatles making stories),
studio footage, press conferences, montages, even some music
that wasn't offically released anywhere else. Pretty much
everything, must have if you like The Beatles.

I'm getting the DVDs for Christmas. I've had the tapes for
years, but I could never afford the DVDs until now.

Okay, so trainsong is the only really stand out track, but
it's nice to have an intelligent rap album that doesn't even
mention guns, the ghetto etc. except for once in a mocking
way.
