reviews anyone?

qewza from romania on 2001-11-28 11:42 [#00056405]

i see many people reviewed f.l.e.a.'s song on mp3.com, so i
was wondering perhaps someone would drop a word about our
latest song too. that's "living in movie screens"
(romanian/french/swedish co-op).
you can find it here:
www.besonic.com/makunouchibento .
thanq :)

btw, any labels interested? we're not signed hehe...

Wow!

That's some production there!!!
Ok .. the first time the beat/vocal synergy or something
seemed um .. a little weird. But upon second listen this was
more or less resolved. I really like the initial sort of
ambiguous mood.

Very cool drum bit coming in at about 2 mins .. very nice. .
Some nice Drum work all round - also towards the end with
the distorted efxed 909BD or whatever ...

Vocals somewhat remeniscent of Jarvis Cocker - um .. yeah ..
thats really the only thing that sort of bugs me a little -
the vocal thing. It seems that like the vocal lags behind
the very precise and well articulated drumming which gives
a weird effect. Quite probably a thing that grows on one -
hence "intelligent" or so.

But, very very impressive. I must say.

Just listening to Evening Flight. Got a nice vibe going
there!

Not really a review as much as an opinion - but I guess that
is what a review is so there!! :)

Re: milipong

lush sounding glitches .. nice and chaotic/yet sensical
melody musings. Quite a beautiful little song this - love
the ending !!!

I agree with the previous comment about the vocals. It seems
like a weird blend of "genres", but I was always interested
in that concept anyway (like classical + gangsta rap +
yodeling would be cool). This sounds like "idm" + some
regular song that the average person would listen to (the
singing part basically). Very good sound though with the
percussion etc., you have a lot of skill.

sometimes I think there's too many different sounds/ideas.
It would be cool to make it more unified as a whole somehow,
like use sounds that are all similar. I like symmetry. but a
single listen to a few of your tracks doesn't give my
opinion much credibility and it might change.

for milipong and other songs ...
so, mabento gives it a brush with a _really_ humanised
piece of dark shiny cake. i could say that their musical art
is strongly visual/ ellegiac/ not homogeneous for most of
songs ! between hidden percussions, lush deep melodies, all
the time making the sounds change, nothing staying really
static, even in the more ambient parts. full of static and
humidity there - you can loose some ideas in that
neoelectronica jungle. from a scale to 1-10 - ill give a 8+
to that band. you _ go now and listen those songs.
